Over the weekend, I helped my parents plant 11 trees on our property. We planted two live oaks, a sugar maple, a red maple, two pecan trees, an English walnut, two Red Haven peach trees, a Jonathon apple tree and a Fuji apple tree. That brings the total number of trees on our property to 20. And my parents are planning on buying more. We actually have many more trees on our whole property, but the 20 are actually in our yard area. We probably have about 50 trees all together on the property. I enjoyed planting them and look forward to what they will look like in several years. It’s too bad trees take so long to mature.
In the 15 years I have owned my home, my yard (1/3 acre) has gone from a flat green square with a few old dying trees, to something of a jungle. Planting all those trees has made a major impact when it comes to retaining moisture in the ground.
It takes time, but it is worth it to plant trees.
