A Closer Look At Longhorn

ExtremeTech has a good article with a closer look at Longhorn, Microshaft’s latest Windoze incarnation, slated for release sometime in the next decade.  It even has some screenshots of some of the “new” features.

After reading the article and seeing the screenshots, it’s extremely obvious Micro$oft knew they got their ass kicked by OS X when it came to functionality and looks.  Longhorn now has some features and eye candy that OS X has had for years.  True window transparency and shadows.  Better organization and management of multimedia.

Another new feature is similar to Panther’s Exposé.  When too many windows clutter your screen, hit Alt-Tab and all the windows are stacked next to each other, but in 3D, allowing you to see some contents of each window.  It doesn’t look as clear or easy-to-use as Exposé, but at least it’s a start.

So it looks like Windoze is once again emulating the Mac.  I guess Apple should be proud.
