A Short Trip

I just came back from a short, two-day trip up to Fayetteville and Eureka Springs, Arkansas.  I went with a friend who was wanting to get his resume out to several different places in the area for future work.  He will be graduating from college in May, and was thinking about moving up to the area soon afterwards.

We drove up Monday morning, and gathered as much information as we could about the Fayetteville/Rogers/Springdale area.  Fayetteville is a metropolis compared to De Queen, so we were in heaven with all the great stores.  There’s obviously a lot of money in the area, because I saw more BMWs, Hummers and Porsches than Chevys and Fords, it seemed.

Once we finished there, we drove on to scenic Eureka Springs to stay the night.  This tiny little tourist trap reminds me tremendously of Altensteig, Germany, where I used to live.  Tiny village in a valley with narrow, spaghetti-like streets all over the place.  Lots of old architecture and pubs scattered here and there.  There are lots of Germans that live in the area too, so I got to practice on translating German again.  I took a lot of pictures of the houses and hotels in the area.  Some of them are amazing!  It’s a quaint little town with no life in the winter, but booms in the other seasons.  I loved it.  So much so, that I am considering moving there, or at least to the area near it.

On Tuesday, we spent some more time in Eureka Springs and then made our way back towards Fayetteville.  On the way, there’s a museum for the Civil War battlefield of Pea Ridge.  It was very educational.

We spent some more time giving my friend’s resume out to some places in the area and then spent our final hour at Best Buy.  I HAD to go there and get my fix for a while since there isn’t one anywhere near my area.  I ended up buying a cordless optical mouse.  It works great.

All in all, this was a great trip and it was good to get away from BFE and enjoy myself a bit.

I had to think for a minute about “BFE”… but I figured it out.

Are you going to have “codes” in more of your posts in the future.. lol?

I don’t plan on it, it just happened that way! I couldn’t think of any other colorful way to demonstrate the isolation of where I live.
