I’m debating whether or not I like the linkbox ticker on the right. I’m not sure if it adds or detracts from the site. A simple <ul> might be more functional and easier on browsers too. Anyone care to give me some feedback on what they like or don’t like about the new design?
I already know the header and nav are doing funky things in Internet Exploder for PC. I will hopefully be able to fix it soon when I have access to a PC. If someone knows a quick and dirty fix for the problem, then I’d be more than happy to hear it.
I’ve now removed the linkbox section. I will rethink how I should implement this feature. Hopefully I can come up with something nice.
A good friend of mine emailed me earlier and told me he was having the same problem you are, André.
Well… that cinches it for me. I will replace it with something else less distracting and doesn’t mess with the Google ads.
Any other feedback regarding other sections of the site would be great. Any ideas for cool features are welcome too.
Why don’t you use the EE’s randomizer() function for the linkbox? It’s not perfect, but gives you at least a different link for every page hit.
By the way, the right columns’ width changes when clicking on a category in the archives. (Linux + Firefox)
Otherwise, I like the new design much better than the old one – the space at the top was just wasted.
But now… these colors and the graphics look just sweet! I like the idea with the background for the comments and the bullets on the archives page. Great job, Chris!
The links in linkbox are kept in a separate weblog. Instead of using the randomizer plugin, I could probably just use the exp:weblog:entries tag with certain parameters. I believe I could get that to work right.
In the archives, the right column doesn’t change width, although it looks like it. The page gets longer because different ul are being revealed or hidden. Try opening a smaller section and see if it changes still.
I’m glad you like the new design better. I do too!
After it scrolls through the first time, it starts becoming quite distracting. So, I would vote that it might do it at a slower pace and only cycle through maybe twice. Or, perhaps cycle through once and then have a link for “spinning” it again.
