Apple’s One More Thing

“One more thing”, my butt! Last week, Apple sent the word out that it had “one more thing” to announce today. Well, it turns out they had several more things to announce.

The first one is the new iMac. It’s thinner than the previous version, but still has the same basic look. The new iMacs sport 17 and 20” displays, 512 MB of RAM (up to 2.5 GB), beefed up graphics cards and up to a 2.1 GHz G5 processor! They’re sporting a new multimedia interface called Front Row. It basically turns your new iMac into a home multimedia system. All your music, photos, videos and what not are presented in a spiffy interface which can be controlled by a simply remote reminiscent of the iPod. It also includes a new photo app called Photo Booth which basically lets you use an iSight and do fun things with the picture.

Newest iPodsThe next thing they announced, which everyone was kind of expecting, is the new iPod. It’s thinner than the last generation and sports a bigger screen for playing videos. It takes its styling cues from the iPod nano, which makes me wonder if it will also scratch as easily as the nano. The new models have 30 and 60GB capacities and you can choose between white or black, again like the nano. They start at $299.

You’ll be able to download music, podcasts, videos and TV shows with the new iTunes 6. Only around a month after iTunes 5 comes out, they release version 6! Sometimes Apple makes you scratch your head.

So Apple has done it again. You know the other MP3 player makers were already reeling from the iPod nano. Now they’ll be crapping their pants with the latest iPod. I admit. I want one, but will wait to see what the reviews are.

I can live without the nano. Its a beautiful little mp3 player and all, but i don’t really have a use for it. But the new ipod. That’s sweet. I’d love one. I’m hoping the reviews are good.

I’d really love a new iMac as well. I’ve been thinking about getting a desktop again (thinking how sweet warcraft would be on a 20-inch iMac). Guess I need to start saving my pennies.

Yeah, same here. The nano’s storage capacity is just too small. The new iPod though looks to be perfect. I’d get a black one for sure.

I also have been thinking of buying a new desktop machine. I was thinking of buying a Powermac, because they can be upgraded easier. The new iMac is definitely tempting though. Plus, I’d have to buy a monitor with the Powermac, so I’d be looking at $2000 easy.

I guess I’ll have to make my aging lamp iMac last a little longer.

I ordered a black 30gb iPod just last night.

Sweet! When you get it, let us know what you think about it. What you like and don’t like.

Sure!

I’ve just this minute got my new iPod. First impressions are that it’s amazingly shiny. Apple have mastered aesthetics, as well as the art of packaging.
