April 2006 Top 10 Songs

I’ve written before about my top ten favorite songs, but that was nearly a year ago. I figured it was time to share the list again. So in no particular order, here are my favorite ten songs at this point in time.

Band - Song

  1. A.M. Sixty - Summertime Girlfriend
  2. Zero 7 - Destiny
  3. Desmond Williams - Cadence
  4. Thievery Corporation - So Com Voce
  5. Bruce Kaphan - Clouds
  6. Limbertimbre - One Big Bit
  7. Machine Drum - Wishbone Be Broken
  8. Zero 7 - In The Waiting Line
  9. Portishead - Strangers
  10. Egg Chair Architects - I Find It In You

A side note to Missy: You’ll probably like the first two a lot. Check ‘em out.

I’m also into a song again that I used to really like… when I was a teenager. I’m half embarrassed to say it’s Tag Team’s Whoomp! There It Is. The bass line is just so freakin’ catchy. And since my new computer speakers have a subwoofer that’ll rattle your back teeth out, it’s fun to crank up the bass whenever it starts playing.

If the Summertime Girlfriend song is on an ad, I’ve been singing with it for weeks! It’s catchy! I’m not sure if I’ve heard the second one though. I’ll have to check it out.

Summertime Girlfriend is on the latest Old Navy ad, where they’re all dancing on top of that building in the sunset. The ad sucks, but the song is really cool.

Haha.. I had no idea what either one of you were talking about, so I went to the Old Navy website and watched it. I didn’t find it catchy (yet), but the ad is kinda cheesy.

I went to the Old Navy website and listened to the song. I really like the beat and the chorus, but the rest is really dorky. It would be better without that guy singing.

I like that part too. It’s like a dorky guy who has scored a beach babe and hopes summer never ends. He sings about her peach fuzz on her lower back and her tan lines. It’s hilarious. Plus he doesn’t sing too much. Just here and there.

Destiny is an EXCELLENT, excellent song. So good, in fact, that my wife and I put it on our wedding soundtrack.
I would like to recommend a couple trax to you, Chris:
When the Man Comes Around – Johnny Cash
Like Eating Glass – Bloc Party
Feel Good Inc. – Gorillaz
Dedicated to You – John Coltrane & Johnny Hartman
Right Here – SWV

I too enjoy the Old Navy Music. Hope you’re well.

Terry Nelson… as in Dave the Clown? Long time no hear! Congratulations on getting married too!

I checked out the music you suggested. I’ve already got Feel Good Inc. Great song.

I couldn’t find Right Here or Dedicated to You. Johnny Cash is great. I don’t like all of his music, but he’s got some classics. Like Eating Glass sounds good too.
