Bush tells U.N. to ‘show some backbone’

For all the liberals who said Bush was an idiot who would suck on international policies, I think his speech to the UN was a masterstroke and proved all the whining Dems out there wrong.  He not only eased the tensions of the world leaders (except for Iraq), he put the responsibility squarely on the shoulders of the UN to act.  This CNN article is about Bush telling the UN to have the bite to back its bark.  If it doesn’t, it has shown itself to be irrelevant, and the US will act.  Beautiful.

I agree, the speech was one of the finest ever. I watched it live back to back with Koffi Annan’s speech just prior to it. The contrast in the 2 speeches was incredible, and President Bush definately gained the upper hand. He had to make a convincing case to not only the UN, but to the US Congress, and to the American public. I think he clearly did a fantastic job at convincing even the most diehard of skeptics.

Anyone watching the speech, will remember the chills that ran up and down their spines when Bush was angrily recounting the list of offenses commited by the Iraqi government throughtout the 90’s. The anger in his voice become more intense when he listed the charge that would have affected him personally.. “the attempted assassination of a former American President”.

So.. to the liberal skeptics, he may not know what the Capitol of Mexico is, but he has proved time and time again since September 11th, 2001 that he can meet any challenge and rise to any occassion when the need is there.
