Catching Up

Lots of stuff has happened recently, but I’ve been either too busy or distracted by other things to write about it.

1. I’m now a part of the pMachine Support Team, along with Les at Stupid Evil Bastard and Lisa at Creatively Devious.  Now we can look down on all the other ExpressionEngine users and mock their plaintive cries for help.  Not really.  We’re there to help ease the support burden on Paul, Chris and Rick so they can focus more on improving EE.

2. Related to that, I’ve been working on improving the EE plugin manager.  It looks a lot nicer now and is more useful and informative.  Rick liked it so much, he’s going to include it in the next release of EE!  Excellent!  I’ve been distracted by a couple other things lately, but I hope to finish it up this weekend.

3. Kelsey, our oldest dog, is not doing so well anymore.  She has trouble walking now, since the arthritis in her hips is so bad.  She also recently had her claws trimmed way back since they were allowed to get WAY too long.  She bled all over the place and I think that’s one reason she’s having trouble walking.  If she gets too bad, we’ll just put her to sleep instead of letting her be in pain all the time.  She’s 10 years old now, so she’s had a good long life.  Still, it’ll be sad to see her go.

4. Work is picking up finally.  I’ve got a steady flow of projects coming in and hopefully I’ll be able to maintain it for a long time.  I need the money to get out on my own.  Plus, I’m learning EE, PHP and CSS tricks quicker by working with more clients and projects.

5. I repartitioned part of my PC’s hard drive so I could install and try out SuSE Linux.  I was just planning on playing with it and then instaling Mandrake instead.  However, after only a couple minutes with SuSE, I realized I liked it more than Mandrake.  It’s a little more polished, a little more professional feeling.  In fact, it’s the best looking Linux distro I’ve seen.  And things worked right out of the box.  So I’ve kept SuSE and will most likely be using it for a while.

I’m sorry to hear about you dog. It can be very hard to let a family member go. ;9

Didn’t know you were working on the plugin manager, looking foward to seeing that. =) Good luck on the other projects!
