After seeing the latest edition of Rides, I thought I’d go check out the site of my favorite hot rod designer, Chip Foose. The last time I checked in on the site, it was still under construction. Well, it’s now up and running and looks pretty good.
Chip makes some of the sweetest hot rods I’ve ever seen. And he’s won numerous awards for those hot rods too. The car above is called the Grandmaster, and it’s considered by many to be the perfect hot rod. It’s won many awards including the big one, the Ridler.
I would LOVE for him to work on my car, but know that won’t happen. He’s probably got at least 5 cars he’s working hard on all the time.
On the last ride charley was painting the impression the ridler winner.and chip was watching charley paint the car. and chip put up a face of boyd and charley started laughting. the thing is charley is happier working for chip. and boyd didn’t care about charley. i can’t wait until mike goes and workes for chip or ale or roy.
I just saw a site that showcased Chip’s newest masterpiece, the Impression. It’s stinking amazing! I’ve posted about it here.

Chip is awsome. I was driving to the Woodward Dream Crusie on Saturday and noticed a Foose Mustang in front of me. I spead up and got next to it. Sure enough Chip was driving and rolled down the window. I freaked since I am a huge fan. My wife is still making fun of me. I told him it was a pleasure to meet him and asked where he would be at the cruise. He told we where and I met up with him later. He noticed me in the group of people waiting to talk to him and came up and started talking. He was so cool. I have nothing bad to say. He is the best and I want to fly out and see his shop!
Thanks for a cool thread Chris
I would like to say Chip Foose has done what Boyd could never do, I’m an import enthusiast and remain one to this day I always thought boydes cars are nice but never wowed me but the cars Chip designs has put me onto old school American cars altho my favorite Over Hauling was still the civic 1995 the fact that Chip Foose master hot roder knows how to do up a civic better then 90% of Honda modifiers is a true testament to his skill dropping a gsr in there was awesome only thing that car was missing was an after market interior. I hope Chip picks up all of Boyd’s employee’s that leave. I know he picked up Charlie and I heard he picked up Beatle Bailey, and I saw Mike on Over Hauling with the cobra stang but they said he was from the factory that makes foose wheels anyone know what thats about?
I had the pleasure of meeting Chip Foose yesterday at the Route 66 Rendezvous. My fiancé and I stood in line for close to 2 hours to get his autograph. I wish I hadn’t been so freaking nervous or else I would have talked to him more. I’ve been in complete awe at what Chip has been able to do with cars and now bikes. His attention to detail is second to none and his vision is far ahead of most. I have returned to school after many years of not doing what I really want to do and hope to one day work for/with the likes of Foose. I have a long way to go and a lot to prove but I am determined to learn everything and anything I can and maybe one day I will be fortunate enough to be working for Foose.
I hope this shows up…
i think foose is a genious. he is the best, anyone do cars how chip foose he is the best cars desing, he did some crasy projects, in the paper i thoot “he is not going to finished this, for he finished this a miracle have to happened” but in the end he always finish his projects WITHOUT A SCREW IT ISN’T OUT OF ITS PLACE
Here’s a picture of me at his all mighty’s place...
Great site and very informative. Its great to finally discover what the beef is between Boyd Coddington and Chip Foose. What ever people say these guys are the masters. Its also good to hear that Charley and Mike have made appearances on Overhaulin. I suppose it will be next year before those episodes are shown this side of the Atlantic. Great site, keep up the good work.
Glad you like the site, Mike. I’m amazed at how many responses this Chip Foose entry has received.
