Well I just had a bit of a thrill. Unfortunately, it was short-lived. The phone rang about 5 minutes ago and a very nice sounding woman was on the other end. She mentioned her name and said she was working on a show for Comedy Central! I immediately got a major adrenaline rush, thinking this could be my big break! I’d become a TV superstar overnight!!!
But then she mentioned that Comedy Central was wanting my permission to show some posters that I had made a few years back. I knew then she wasn’t looking for me, but another Mantis Design. LAME!! So, like a good boy who doesn’t want to get sued or go to jail, I pointed her to the right Mantis Design.
When I created my company, I had no idea that other one existed. As it stands, I get about 10 emails a year from people asking for more info on these posters the other Mantis makes. On my site I now have a disclaimer explaining I don’t make them and it points them to the right place. I’m thinking of changing my business name, so there won’t be any more confusion.
Last year I was on a jury hearing the case of a comedian who made a few appearances on Comedy Central.
