Crap politics

I think this whole deal about Democrats/liberals freaking out about how Bush knew there was an imminent terrorist attack and did nothing is a bunch of crap, and that’s putting it mildly.

First off, that is one SERIOUS accusation to be making against anyone, let alone the president.  Why in the world would the president NOT defend his country?!  That idea in and of itself is ridiculous.

Second, the report they’re freaking out about is one that they received also!  The president’s copy had a few more points than the what Congress received, but it was basically the same thing.  So for them to accuse Bush of doing nothing is hypocritical.  Within a few hours of their first pantywad, they were already admitting to having the same report.

Third, what was in the report was a broad sweeping account of POSSIBLE terrorist attack METHODS.  That doesn’t mean they had evidence that the 9/11 attacks were going to happen.  Even the guy who coordinated the report says that there was no actionable evidence in the report, so to criticize Bush is unfair.  His words.  And this guy served both Republicans and Democrats.

If you ask me, it’s just a bunch of political gesturing, trying to smear Bush’s image and ratings.  I HATE crap politics like this.

The whole thing makes about as much sense as the theory that the FDR administration sat back and knowingly let the Japanese annihilate the Pacific Fleet on Dec 7, 1941 for political gain.

Another thing, don’t even get me started on Hilary Clinton. This woman was nowhere to be found when the people of NY needed her back in September. But she now seems to be front and center (er.. the left actually) when it comes to finger pointing and wanting to know why the Bush administration didn’t do more to protect Americans.

Also, the calendar says it’s 2002, and the elections are less than 6 months away. But I’m sure that has nothing to do with it. We are Americans, we support the President….. yeah, right.

And another thing…. even if the government had issued a warning prior to September 11th, how many people would have taken it seriously? Travel warnings are issued all the time, but unless something really does happen, no one pays attention.

How about this scenerio? The Bush administration issues a warning on August 16th, warning of POSSIBLE terrorist hijackings in the US sometime over the next several weeks. Would anyone have listened? Would the President have been accused of getting the public all up in arms for his own political gain? The Democrats for sure would have accused him of being paranoid.
