Delaying the Election Process?

OK… this doesn’t make any sense.  There’s chatter out there that says Al-qaeda is thinking about some kind of attack that would disrupt the election process here in the US.  So what ingenious master plan do Tom Ridge and Homeland Security come up with to deal with it?  Disrupting the election process.

Oh good.  We don’t want Al-qaeda messing up our elections, so we’ll beat them to it!

Wouldn’t a better solution be to carry on with elections as planned?  Show the terrorists that we’re not afraid of them.  That they have no power over us or our election process?  Maybe that’s just me…

The FDR adimistration didn’t mess around with election dates and delays. Back then, we were under threat of not just an attack on US soil, but the threat outright invasion on either or both coasts!

Exactly. Delaying the election process would be a first for our country, if I remember right. You think things were a nightmare with the last election, it would really get bad if things were pushed back this election!

I’m not sure exactly what Homeland Security is hearing, but if it’s just chatter, so what? Watch it closely. Follow up on tips and leads. Do a good job with security during the election, and we should be ok. Don’t delay it. That would only screw things up more, and show the world that terrorists can influence one of our most fundamental processes just by barking loudly. That’s not the kind of signal we want to be giving out.
