Italian Dr. Carlo Urbani died of SARS, the highly contagious, new respiratory disease he helped identify just a few weeks ago. He became infected in Vietnam, where he diagnosed an American businessman with the disease. The American businessman also died later. So far, over 1300 people have died from the disease, most of them in China.
This guy put his life on the line to help diagnose this new illness and save others from it. He acted unselfishly. He paid the ultimate price for it. I had never heard of him before today, but I know he must’ve been a good man.
