Earnings of The Lord of the Rings

I did a little research, and the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy has raked in a lot more than just 11+ Oscars. It also took in just shy of $2,800,000,000 in worldwide ticket sales! That’s not counting things like DVD sales/rentals, merchandising, etc.
And I’ll bet they could rake in a whole lot more money if they re-release them several years down the road. That could put them past Titanic as all-time money earner.
And to think the studio that backed it was worried it wouldn’t get its $300 million back!
those people always worry about that stuff. Just goes to show that people are still interested in the fantasy genre. Of coure, I’m sure it didn’t hurt having Viggo and Orlando in there for the girls.
