eBay Sucks Ass!

I hate eBay with a passion right now.  In an earlier post, I had mentioned I was looking to find a copy of Oni for the Mac.  Well, I did some searching and finally found one copy of it for auction on eBay.  That was four days ago.  I’ve been watching it every day since then.  The bidding never got high, so I saw my chance to get myself a copy of it for real cheap.  I logged in with only a few minutes left and kept reloading the page until I saw there was 1 minute left in the auction.  I entered in my bid, which would’ve been the winning one, but instead of seeing a “Congratulations!  You’re the winning bidder!”, I saw a #$(*@ login screen asking me for my *%(*&# password!  I paniced.  I entered in my password and hit submit, but instead of submitting my password, it brought me to some dumbass page with a link back to the item!  By the time I FINALLY got back to the auction, time was up!

Needless to say I let loose a few choice words.  I’m still very pissed about it.  I’m getting angry again writing about it.  Why did eBay need my %#*&# password if I was already logged in!?!?!

Now I’ve got to go scouring the Web again trying to find a copy.  There are no other Mac copies on eBay.  I can’t find any stores still selling it.  The folks at OmniGroup won’t sell me a copy.  So I’m screwed.  And I have eBay to thank.

ipods4less please reach behind you and pull your head out of your ass. do you live in some kind of squeaky clean super friendly never the least bit inconvenienced world? paypal’s dispute resolution is an exercise in frustration. any person who has had an easy and pleasant experience when resolving an issue through paypal or ebay is very, very lucky indeed. i have over 7,000 positive feedbacks, and have had to file over 130 claims through paypal – and it has never once been a simple matter. paypal is owned by ebay – and ebay is a great money sucking vacuum. if you care to say that ebay does take steps to prevent dishonest sellers from continuing to sell, then look up ebay member ‘ thebarry ‘ – or ‘ mylittle1s ‘ and then rethink your opinion of ebay. ebay sucks, and you don’t know your ass from a manhole cover. you’re just another typical anal retentive snotnosed pissant.

Well, Hey Chris is it required for users to actually read the thread before posting?

Le if you were to take the time to read my comments then you would realize that I, by no means support nor endorse a crappy company like ebay, I doubt there is any ebay supporters here, thus the name “ebay Sucks ass” Genuis.

I do use paypal, I have for several years now and they have not scammed me yet. Suggesting Makron to try and get his money back is by all counts a good one i think, or would you suggest just sitting back waiting for a miracle instead?

You know just read before you post, and you won’t make such a fool of yourself nextime.

I HATE eBay!

I worked for them and I can tell you from first hand experience that all they want their reps to do is get good numbers. They don’t care if you take care of the member’s issues, just that you blow through the emails, chats, and phone calls.

I was a member for eBay for 5 years . . . let me tell you they really SUCK!

The biggest problem with switching to another auction site is that fact that if you want to make money buying and selling online you need a large audiance. As bad as eBay is they have millions of visitors a day.

The best alternative to them I have found with some what good visitor numbers is www.overstock.com.

I have sold on there and have been pleased so far.

I also took it apon myself to start a FREE CLASSIFIEDS website to help people sell their items our right rather then going through an auction. Sometimes you just want to say here it is and this is the price then take it from there.

Please help me build the site, visit it at www.ethrifties.com

Hi Guys!

So that I can say what I’m about to share with you, I’m keeping my real name and email address off of this comment (this is to avoid losing my current ebay account).

Those of you who have been wrongfully suspended from ebay, you can now rest assured! Please keep what I’m about to tell you on the down low so that the cat won’t get too far out of the bag. I found the whole in ebay’s registration system.

If you’re suspended from ebay and you typically decide to try and re-register, the system will not allow you to create a new account if all of your information is the same.

If you get suspended, you can re-register by moving (creating a new registration username, personal name, and fake address for ebay’s records, because they can’t verify this), going to your bank of choice, opening a new checking & debit card account (you can use your real name and address for this — moving or name faking not necessary ),

Using a fake registration name is something you don’t have to do unless you’d like the added security of anonymity. —There are millions of people in this world with the same name …. aside from our social security number (which is not required for basic buyer or seller registration) ebay has no other way to know who or where you really are.

Ebay blocks registration of new accounts if you have the same contact and or financial account information as another user. You can get in if your info is different.

Here’s a complete list of things you’ll need to change in order to get back on ebay without dealing with their Customer Service persons:

1) Change your username & password (this is a given — don’t use the same username twice)

2) Change or make up your new personal contact info (name isn’t necessary, but address and phone number is a must — ebay does not check to see if this is correct during registration — just make sure you put the real info in your “myeBay” account preferences post-registration so that people you trade with can reach you).

(CONTINUING my thoughts)

3) Checking, savings, debit card / credit card information all must be new for buying and selling purposes. Your name on your actual bank account can be your real Identity. Ebay does not check that part of your registration, because all they see is that you have a new & unposted legitimate way to pay your sellers fees automatically, which is fine with them. Changing your paypal account info and registered email addresses to associate your ebay buyer / sellers account is not required but helpful. I myself am on my second paypal account, and that is by choice.

*Losing your feedback score is something you have to accept eventhough you may have done quite well in your old ebay account.

**NEVER attempt to associate or link your old account with your new, because that would get you blocked all over again and you’d have to re-do the whole thing.

I’ve been kicked off of ebay twice so far for unfair reasons myself. Eventhough my sellers forgave my previous accounts, after a certain amount of time eBay won’t let you back in unless you side step them as I’ve successfully done twice so far.

I currently have my third eBay account, and I’m doing my best to keep this one in good standing, because eventhough getting back in is quite detailed and easy, I don’t want to do it all over again unless it becomes necessary.

MUY IMPORTANTE: After you’ve established your new account and registration Identity, go to your “myEbay” feature and change your name and address in your shipping and payment prefernces to reflect where you true contact information and you’re back in business (just be sure to keep your nose clean & your new account in good standing and don’t let the system verify your social security number — to sell on ebay, your social security number is not required!!)

If you want to get back on ebay, this is how you do it without them knowing you got back in. I’m only sharing this with people who are victims of unfair treatment by eBay. If you’re intending to sell items on ebay to rip people off with fraudulently, please don’t come back to eBay because nobody wants to be bothered with you!

My tips here are for genuine victims, buyers and sellers who got suspended unfairly.

Now that you’ve got the key to eBay’s back door, have fun again and be careful!

Sincerely,
-ANONYMOUS

(ebay user for 6 years collectively with three separate accounts)

by the way, (adding briefly to my advice), just so you’ll know, ebay doesn’t trace your computer’s IP address static or non-static.

But if for some reason someday they do, just simply switch your ISP (internet Service Provider) or use someone else’s computer.

IP addresses always expire because they’re ever changing, so they can’t trace you quick and won’t have much time to find you, so don’t worry about a thing.

And yes, by the way, I’m a schemer …. when I got blocked out of my first two accounts I became desperate to get back on with eBay. I tried everything you guys have tried, and now that I’ve found my keys, I’m the one who’s got the last laugh and is reigning supreme! What aided my fuel was the fact that I had overdrafted my original bank account which closed on me within 90 days, and that forced me to get a new bank account someplace else because I could pay the overdraft fee. I then found the whole in eBay’s fence after I got my new bank accounts and their related check cards. I entered the new info, and said I lived someplace else ….. and that was the key which opened the door.

Instead of going through the whole bank changing process as I had to do, you can choose to do something even simpler: use your savings account instead of checking account to register as a seller on ebay, and if you have more than one credit / debit card, simply use a different card.

badda-boom! badda-bing! It’s that simple!
Been there! Done That! — & Bought the T-Shirt!

That’s the book, and I’m the author!

Thanks for the advice ANON, but I will have to disagree on one part with you, and this is just my opinion alone. I used my friends ebay account that she had all her info in there, including her own credit cards and she had this for over a year, so I won two things from her and paid on PAYPAL. And next thing you know I got her suspended and the reason, linked to my suspended account, at first from reading these posts I thought that It was the IP address, and then I realized that it was Paypal, because I made a new one and paid for 4 items with paypal with the new one and that one got kicked off and mind you that had all fake info it. So it comes down to IP address or Paypal, hmmm and ebay owns paypal so they looked into my paypal I think and saw all the stuff I paid for under that name and suspended all the users I won auctions and paid for. The rest of your info seems to be very helpful and work, just dont know why ebay would want to kick off 6 year plus loyal customers that make them money but let the average jo come on there bid and never pay. This is crazy, why do they care about shill bidding, the more a item goes for more is more they get and more the seller gets, its not like the buyer didnt want to pay that, I cant count numerous times I was shill bid against and you know what, it happens all the time. I work with dozens of people that tell each other to bid on each other ####, so I know its done all the time, but to indefinitely suspend someone is just going to make ebay lose money. Thanks for the post ANON from ebay.

hello!
ebay actually owns paypal – which is how they navigate through some “re-registered account holders”.
my husband and i had ebay accounts in great standing – both of us sellers – and we got kicked off due to our association with each other.
=)
but anyways, my husband’s paypal account is what really changed my mind against all of them. one day my husband got an email asking to “verify information” and to click on a link. the link was to allow paypal to call us at home. since we didn’t have anything to hide – he clicked on the link and like a bad dream the phone rang – then died (we only had a cordless at the time) horrified, he went back to the email which stated that paypal will hold the funds until they received the verification they need. he filled out the form they required and sent it to them registered mail. and this has been over 5 months ago. paypal froze $497 and would not give it back. after finding all this out i quickly transferred all of my funds and closed my paypal account. its ridiculous how the scum can get away with ripping off people and stealing and lying, but actual dealers who really try to give as much good service as possible get kicked off because we both have accounts. we now sell on ioffer.com and we’ll check out overstock.com since it was suggested in a previous comment.
for future reference i’d avoid paypal and ebay if you can – just because they have no regulations what so ever that govern them.
paypal can freeze and take your funds – they are NOT a bank and they are NOT trustworthy. good luck and take care!

Hi Jamie, mom & Pop!

Sorry it took me so long to get back with you.

Jamie — That’s interesting that your paypal account got your friend’s ebay account suspended! My accounts have never been suspended because of paypal. It’s true that eBay owns paypal, but they don’t touch them because that would violate our right to privacy. Ebay has never looked into my paypal account and they never will, but if you must, do whatever it takes to make sure you feel comfortable. The first time they suspended me, I didn’t close my first paypal account. The only thing I did that first time was change my primary email address and updated my checking / debit info at paypal. The second time I got suspended from ebay I closed the first account and started all over again. My only guess is that something about your friend’s ebay account is similar or linked to your paypal. When you get back in to ebay by sidestepping them, you have to be as thorough as you can. Are you an eBay seller? Ebay will suspend you if you post your similar paypal account name under your myEbay preferences section where you allow them to debit their sellers fees from your paypal account rather than from your checking.

And remember, if you have a static IP address such as most DSL users, it always changes.

On eBay and the internet in general you can be anyone you want to be, and no one would really know the truth about you online but you!

Be thorough ya’ll !!!

Mom & pop,

Also be sure to check out Amazon.com’s “Honors” program, because they too are great. Their system has a payment method that rivals paypal.

But as I was saying, I recommend you and everyone else to try and start afresh with eBay, because it’s very possible, and that’s where the business is at. To get back in you must be thorough.

You have to get completely new personal information and re-invent your registration to get back on successfully and stay on. Once you’re back on, don’t link to anyone associated to your old account! Don’t even link to your husband’s account. — Say you live someplace else like Mars, Alaska. Ebay can’t verify that and they won’t even try to because it’s too time consuming to thoroughly fully verify all registered mailing addresses. They keep things simple; If you have the same address or similar contact info as someone else who’s been suspended, you too will be suspended!

Have a great day!

In a nutshell, my theory about eBay is this:

If they kick you out over something you think is unfair, try a different key or sneak in through the back door and “get” what’s yours.

I’ve got mine!
=)

ANONYMOUS don't tell eBay's gravatar ANONYMOUS don't tell eBay United States October 23, 2005

Jaime ….

After re-reading your last post, I see what else could’ve and most likely happened: eBay cancelled your friends account because you’ve inputted your own shipping address in preferences which created the link to your account. When sidestepping eBay, you gotta do stuff like have your purchases shipped to another address you know you can receive mail at. If you do that, you could then contact the post office at USPS.com and have all your mail forwarded from that other address to be sent to your actual place of residence.

Ebay still sucks, but isn’t it fun knowing you can trick them using their own system and get away with it? I’m enjoying it! — Now if only I can somehow figure out how to sidestep paying those sellers fees ….. I’d be King if I could pull that one off as well successfully, because eBay’s seller fees are too expensive! Case and point: one time it took me about two months to sell about 55 items on ebay. 32 items sold successfully at painfully low prices and the remainder were relisted. From the items I sold, I earned about $60.00, but I found that I HAD TO PAY $150.00 in fees alone (paypal included). After relisting those unsold items on ebay, if I chose to continue offering them for sale, eBay would’ve of course given me a partial refund of the associated listing fees. But because I did not relist the items, I had to pay that fee.

You know something …. Come to think of it, there is a way to at least avoid paying eBay’s sellers fees: You could change your checking information every billing period, but during the course of a year that could add up to a lot of checking accounts & check books you’d have to buy from your bank(s). — Buying checkbooks every month is rather cheaper still than paying ebay’s fees. Ebay’s fees get outrageous, and paying them makes it harder for you to gain a profit from your sales.

ANONYMOUS don't tell eBay's gravatar ANONYMOUS don't tell eBay United States October 23, 2005

One more brief thing I just remembered to share: Paypal is owned by eBay (as mentioned earlier). Eventhough Paypal is owned by them, the two companies are still completely separate entities. Paypal is a financial institution that has it’s boundaries and limitations. They will never let anyone know your financial information without your consent. All your account information stored with them is kept confidential for your eyes only unless you specifically grant someone permission to assist you with it. Ebay can’t touch you unless something about your paypal email address placed on their servers is similar in whole or in part to one that’s been suspended.

I just stumbled across this site after doing a google search. I received an email recently from GreedBay informing me that my account has been suspended for 7 days for shill bidding and that I can appeal after the 7th day to be reinstated. To be perfectally honest, I was shill bidding to to make a few auctions meet the reserve price, so I would’nt have the reserve fee if they did’nt sell. I’ve done this on less than 1% of my auctions. What really pisses me off is that they have absolutely no customer service either phone or online. They cancelled all my other auctions and I have no way to contact my winning bidders or sellers that I have to pay. Their way of doing things just compounds problems if and when i get back online. I have a feedback rating over a little over 1,000 that I dont want to loose. Thats two years of buying and selling for me. They should at least give you limited access to take care of unfinished business (printing shipping labels and sending payments). All I ever get from them is a generic email (fill in the blank) reply. Does anybody know what the suspension is for shill bidding for a first time offense?
This is the second time they have shoved it in my ass regarding customer service. The first time was 5 years ago when I almost died as a result of an auto acident. I was unconscious for a week and spent a month in the hospital. By then, seven sellers filed non-paying bidder complaints which is understandable since they couldnt have know what happened. I couldnt get access to obtain contact info of where to send payments and explain what had happened. The kicker is, that I sent several emails to eBay explaining what had happened and I never received a response. I lost a feedback rating of 655 on that one.
I’ve been scanning sites and am getting conflicting info about the length of suspension for shill bidding. Some places say it’s a week, others say two and some say a month or longer.
Any info would be appreciated.

I have a negative balance in my ebay account and I have been trying to get a refund from ebay for the past few months

ebay keeps telling me to contact the credit card company and dispute the charge

this is not a dispute over a charge, it is a negative balance in my ebay account – each month I get my ebay statement and it shows I have a negative balance in my account (aka ebay owes me money)

ebay continues to tell me that there is nothing they can do about it and that I have to contact the credit card issuing bank and dispute the charge

but how does a bank issue a refund to a credit card account that is closed and no longer active, and when this is not a dispute over a purchase charge – this is a refund for some screw up on ebays part and they owe me a refund!!!

Ebay wants you to think they are the worlds biggest yard sale. While lots of the items listed may be used or imported and not stolen, I submitt Ebay is also the worlds biggest fencing service. Bidders for the most part know the prices of items like computer parts , TVs, and other new items and will not bid above the wholesale price. If the wholesale price of a say 80 gig hard drive is 69 dollars and a guy is selling them at ebay and they are bringing 39 dollars and he keeps selling them, well he is either stupid or selling stolen items. If local pawns tried that they would be arrested and threw in jail, why not ebay? Because ebay makes tons of money for big shot investors could be the answer. The FTC should look into them, but it will not happen as long as Republicans are in power, it’s all about fat cats making money right now. If you buy a TV or computer on ebay, here’s a word, don’t register it with the maker, and file the serial numbers off. BTW, WD refused warranty on my 80 gig hard drive because it was on their stolen list, came from ebay, well one of their power sellers. Local law enforcement woldn’t even bother to write a report. So have fun buying ebay!

Hey Fred,
The stock of EBAY soared 1400% while Bill Clinton (Democrat) was in office. The stock then TANKED when Bush (Republican) was elected, and managed to increase 50% since then. It took me 2 minutes to find this out. Why do you post non-sense that is so easy to check?

Fred's gravatar Fred United States December 29, 2005

Nonsence? Ebay and for the most parts all tech stockes were NEW and grew under Bill Clinton. People were happy and making money. The stock market went up and up. First year Bush is in office the stock market drops and the big compamies, which now include ebay, want to REMAIN fat cats at all cost, which is what conservatives are and what they do. They want the status quo to keep them rich and the heck with people who were not rich when they came in office. Conservatives bring on bad economies as a rule. So the government looks the other way!
