I hate eBay with a passion right now. In an earlier post, I had mentioned I was looking to find a copy of Oni for the Mac. Well, I did some searching and finally found one copy of it for auction on eBay. That was four days ago. I’ve been watching it every day since then. The bidding never got high, so I saw my chance to get myself a copy of it for real cheap. I logged in with only a few minutes left and kept reloading the page until I saw there was 1 minute left in the auction. I entered in my bid, which would’ve been the winning one, but instead of seeing a “Congratulations! You’re the winning bidder!”, I saw a #$(*@ login screen asking me for my *%(*&# password! I paniced. I entered in my password and hit submit, but instead of submitting my password, it brought me to some dumbass page with a link back to the item! By the time I FINALLY got back to the auction, time was up!
Needless to say I let loose a few choice words. I’m still very pissed about it. I’m getting angry again writing about it. Why did eBay need my %#*&# password if I was already logged in!?!?!
Now I’ve got to go scouring the Web again trying to find a copy. There are no other Mac copies on eBay. I can’t find any stores still selling it. The folks at OmniGroup won’t sell me a copy. So I’m screwed. And I have eBay to thank.
Ebay is now just the equivalent to an online version of walmart. I would rather put my stuff in a pile on the lawn and BURN IT that give them 25% of the “profit” (like anyone can make a profit after giving 25% of it off of the top BEFORE postage & overhead).
It’s sad too because I used to enjoy listing stuff. I could add a creative, colorful listing, and hopefully make a few extra bucks. Now, eBay is just undoubtedly, inherently greedy. evil & completely unworkable. They have done everything in their power to destroy online sales at the cost of billions of dollars. Corporations really aren’t that stupid. If billions of dollars are being lost then there is always a greater agenda… like maybe destroying the competition & crippling the economy?
The sad thing is that here in mid 2009 there is STILL no sign of any reasonable competition popping up. You can try to sell you stuff on the others (beside amazon) but they are so obscure that you are just wasting your time. I just want a place to sell my junk where I don’t have to give the lion’s share of the earnings to a group of tyrants who do nothing. It seems simple … right? When you look at the big picture it is just really, really sad to see such greed & corruption ruining everything.
It does sux indeed
