I hate eBay with a passion right now. In an earlier post, I had mentioned I was looking to find a copy of Oni for the Mac. Well, I did some searching and finally found one copy of it for auction on eBay. That was four days ago. I’ve been watching it every day since then. The bidding never got high, so I saw my chance to get myself a copy of it for real cheap. I logged in with only a few minutes left and kept reloading the page until I saw there was 1 minute left in the auction. I entered in my bid, which would’ve been the winning one, but instead of seeing a “Congratulations! You’re the winning bidder!”, I saw a #$(*@ login screen asking me for my *%(*&# password! I paniced. I entered in my password and hit submit, but instead of submitting my password, it brought me to some dumbass page with a link back to the item! By the time I FINALLY got back to the auction, time was up!
Needless to say I let loose a few choice words. I’m still very pissed about it. I’m getting angry again writing about it. Why did eBay need my %#*&# password if I was already logged in!?!?!
Now I’ve got to go scouring the Web again trying to find a copy. There are no other Mac copies on eBay. I can’t find any stores still selling it. The folks at OmniGroup won’t sell me a copy. So I’m screwed. And I have eBay to thank.
Did anyone catch the cable show about Ebay the other night. It gave an inside look on how they are watching everything you do on ebay.
each employee had their own computer and is paid to scan the auctions for any violations. They can pretty much pick and chose who they want to suspend at their whim.
oooh… dont like this auction…push a button….taken off…..
anyway, it shows the CEO heading for china for a takeover there…
Yahoo auctions has japan though! Go Yahoo…..
I suspected that what Naru’ed said was true. One of those cads de-listed an auction of mine, and I relisted it, and he emailed me with all kinds of threats of kickin me off ebay for 3 months. So I told him that I own 50,000 shares of ebay stock and i would sell them if he booted me. I guess he called my bluff and threw me off ebay for 6 months instead. I don’t like the arbitrary nature of those Auction-Nazis. If Ebay goes to China, that would be interesting. The Chinese are absolute masters of selling pirated and offensive goods. I wonder if Ebay will make the commies follow the rules?
eBay sucks, hell yeh.
I recently found a site for a company here in Australia, I believe they ship international. They have many different items for sale with the norm 30% of rec. retail. I’m waiting for an mp3 palyer with was 33% off, with the warranty. www.dealsdirect.com.au
A solution for the sellers is www.storesonline.com This definately worth your time. I am in the process of starting myself.
eBay SUCKS ASS
Ok, here is the latest and greates on Ebay scams. I bid and bought 3 “100% Authentic Vogue Gucci Bags” the pics were great. Had to have it, and only starting at a dollar! $40 shipping, I thought, maybe still worth it, shipping from China- sure!. Sent money western union- and received my bags the next- seems like it was going smooth- BAM! Not Gucci, not even cute- 3 of the UGLIEST handbags ever made in China. The kicker- Ebay customer service, gotta love that automated crap. And went back to read the seller’‘s reveiws, and I’m not the only sap that sent $200 for ugly crap. And will Ebay do anything? Yeah right…
I was suspended from ebay after alleged abuse on their dicusssion boards. I was pink slapped for very minor things that shouldn’t have been slapped in the first place, yet others remain with much worse posts left unpunished. My account lenardia was suspended. I have tried to appeal it and get it reinstated with no avail. EBAY ignores suspended members. They also suspended my wife’s account who had nothing to do with this mess. They will not give me specifics. I am so pissed at them right now, I hope they fall off the face of the earth. Ebay does not enforce rules on a level playing field. As long as they get your money, they don’t care about you.
Another seller on ebay copied my product and used my wording of description to sell it and when i e-mailed him he e-mailed me back with some choice language and i fired back then i quit e-mailing him back . For days later ebay kicks me off for threatening him (user to user threats . The guy turned me in to ebay and got me suspended . Now he sells the product i invented and makes 5-6 hundred a week and i can`t sell a thing . This guy successfully stole my entire business on ebay buy coping my product and eliminating me . And when i sent ebay his own treatenig e-mails they said they could not do anything if he contacts me off of ebay . Ebay will not return my e-mails or let me talk to someone on the phone . They just ignore my e-mails. YES ! EBAY SUCKS !!!! AND SO DOES THE USERS —- (ROCK834) and (SHEKEG ) Two kentucky hillbillies that are too dumb to come up with their own ideas so they steal one thats already successful and then eliminate the person that dreamed it up in the first place . WITH HELP FROM EBAY ! YES ! EBAY SUCKS If you put your new product on ebay and it sells be prepared for ebayers to copy it within three months and be selling against you and unless they copy your pictures all they have to do is switch some words around in the description and ebay will do nothing about it because they make more money in seller fees and don`t care about you or your opinion at all . I tried to get on some of the ebay discussion boards to spread the word about how i was treated they block me from using the talk sections of ebay. One sided company only looks out for it`s own interest and no one else. Yes! EBAY SUCKS !
Why don’t you just use proxy bidding. You enter your bid, then enter another bid (the highest amount you’re prepared to pay for the item you want). You don’t even need to check on it, every time someone outbids you, the ‘proxy’ automatically outbids them. I’m not a great fan of ebay but come on, don’t blame them for your ignorant stupidity!
Last July I purchased a Sony network walkman from a seller. The seller had at the time a fairly good reputation. After almost a month of waiting, I filed a complaint with ebay because the seller refused to reply to my emails. Now going on 2 months, I have filed a complaint with the IFCC against the seller, and have recruited the other 22 people that the company defrauded in the last 6 weeks. Filed al lthe needed things for eBay so that I could try to get even some of my money back. What did I get in return…….You guessed it….nothing, but a email asking me how their complaint process worked for me. Further trying to get them to honor their own buyer protection policy has resulted in absolutely nothing, except yet ANOTHER email questionaire asking me if I was satisfied with my results of the buyer protection policy. After even further filing and even contacting eBay (phone), they did nothing against the seller, allowing the seller to further defraud other buyers, in the sum total of over $2600, in less then 4 weeks. The IFCC has replied to my complaint against the seller, and have informed me that both the seller AND eBay have conducted illegal acts. Well the 22 of us are now filing federal criminal and civial charges against the seller, and have included both in a class action suit.
I had sympathy for Master’s plight until the end where he said he’s going to sue everyone. Class action lawsuits are why everything costs three to five times more than it should, all because of a few suckers whose feelings were hurt and who know a greedy lawyer. Go after the crook, not ebay. Im glad you didnt get your stupid walkman
I think it takes more than a “few suckers” to file a class action lawsuit.
ph if you think ebay is free from any wrong doing wake up! you’re in the wrong place, EBAY Sucks they don’t care about their members and they are not doing enough about fraud, but why should they? they are still getting everyone’s fees.
ipod, you ignored half of what i said. A class action suit requires a few suckers AND a greedy lawyer. His job is to suck all the worms out of the woodwork and leave a hole-infested shell behind. The worms get a few pennies, the lawyer gets his millions, and the real criminals are completely forgotten about. Everyone loses. If you don’t allow the risk that is inherent in any Ebay transaction, it is no longer ebay, and you’ll have another amazon.com or overstock.com, and you’ll pay for the warehousing and other overhead associated with outfits like that. Just because ebay sucks ass, doesnt mean it should be destroyed by vindictive people who missed their dose of prozac.
PH While I understand your view, I do disagree to some extent. Especialy saying that as of today eBay reinstated the sellers account, so doesn’t that put eBay in the same basket as the fraudulent seller?
ipod, as for how many of us that were defrauded by the seller, 20 in the last 6 weeks.
PH As for your view of a class action suit, well that is your view. What we are ACTUALY after is the seller for our payments that we made, as well as federal charges brought against the seller, and to force eBay to take a more strikter stance against fraudulent sellers.
As for the rest of your view, I will leave it at that because I dont want to cause any fights or such, that’s not what I am wanting to cause.
MMMMMMmmmm…prozak…..sounds good, but have never had any of it, nor do I need or want it.
A few months ago, I set up an Ebay account in an attempt to find good deals on computer hardware such as video cards and sticks of RAM. I’m a gamer, and a bit of a programmer in training, so I deal in computer hardware a lot. Need a good rig if you’re gonna dabble in this field right?
Once the account cleared and my checking account was verified and my identification was verified, I thought I was all set. So I start browsing goods.
I run across a few ATI X800 videocards for a nice price, and bid on them, hoping that I’d win at least 1 of them. I bid on maybe 5 different auctions, and I noticed that 2 or 3 of them were from the same seller. Well, a few minutes later after some more browsing I am notified of being outbid on all of them. I check them and see that I was outbid on the cards sold by a single seller, get this, by one guy. I thought, ‘maybe they are just trying to get a good foothold on winning one, too.’ Why else would one guy bid on all the same ones I did by the same seller? So I rebid, and several minutes later, it happens again. These cards had 24 hours easy left in auction duration.
Basically one seller auctioning several of the same product seemed to be having one bidder raising the bids early on, with still plenty of time left to wait to try the ‘last minute bid-to-win’ trick. So I stopped bidding on those and went to a different seller.
I bid on a totally different X800..lo-and-behold the same damn guy outbids me. I am sitting here thinking, ‘okay, what the hell?’
After a few hours of waiting to rid myself of my ‘stalker’ I bid on a fresh auction and the next day I finally win it. I set up the payment and my shipping was paid as the item to be recieved within 3 business days. I paid on a Tuesday.
On Sunday later that week (which is 5 days after payment confirmed by my bank) I still haven’t gotten the card. I sent emails to the seller and Ebay trying to figure out the ordeal. Ebay basically states that they are clueless fucking morons and denies having any ability to help. The seller never contacted me back and has since been MIA.
I was screwed out of $250.00 and Ebay has, of course, lost my business and the business of several of my friends. If I could meet the President of Ebay I’d definately nominate him and his staff for some kind of porn award. He’s certainly found a good way of fucking people.
Paypal claims dont always work. In my struggle with te seller of the MP3 player, I actualy received an email VERIFIED by eBay, stating that I was in the wrong. I filed a claim with paypal, and low and behold I get near the SAME exact email AND phone reply from BOTH stating that I was in the wrong. HOW am I wrong for PAYING for an item, and not ever receiving it?
Also NOW I find out through my legal firm, that the seller is one of the FOUNDERS of paypal, AND ebay, and that they are protecting the specific seller/……VIA their EULA………I have been FLAT OUT REFUSED by paypall to cover the loss, and eBay says that they are not ;liable.Ok, so now I am out 200 for the auction, 2500 for the legal interfearance, and am now being threatend to court from ebay, for an auction that I “won” .
Ok, who is liable for the theft and fraud? ME? Or a company that has refused to cooperate with their own regulations?
eBay says it is my own fault for using their service, paypal says that they are not responsible for any loss, and their OWN EULA states that they will mediate as a third party that is not responsible to either party.
OH and mind you since my DEFRAUDATION by this “seller” 4 others have joined in, and have sent me the same responses as I have already received. (paypal) “we cannot be held liable for any fraudulent charges to your account, it is up to you the buyer to verify the sellers integrity, as per the eBay feedback reputation.”
Fraud is fraud, theft is theft, and over 100,000 USD in theft in 6 weeks is STILL 100,000 theft. IFCC is having a FIELD DAY with this now, since it has been CONFIRMED that the “seller” is a stock holder and member of the board for eBay.
I was on ebay for 6 1/2 years with 1133+ feedback, absolutely loved it. Till about a week ago I was suspended for being linked to another suspended account. My husbands account that he had for 2 years and had 414 feedback on was suspended. Then a month later they suspend mine, I called customer support-(1-800-322-9266) or you can call 408-376-7425 and they said that Safe Harbor doesnt have phone service yet,(nor will they I think) and they couldnt help me. Of course, so I send an email and they say it usually takes 24-48 hours to respond, that was Friday afternoon, now its wednesday morning and nothing. I call back and they however can look at my account and tell me that the emails I sent are all open ( of course I sent 3) and tells me that 100 hours are logged on to the emails, how that is a hell of a lot more than 24-48 hrs. My girlfriends name in which I bid with because I was kicked off, just got suspended this morning as well as havign connection to my account, how is that? When I am in one state and she is about 5 states away. Ebay sucks so much, I use to talk highly of it, but now I am one of the ones that have finally seen the crap they do to people. They do not care about you unless you are a powerseller, and maybe not even then. I tell everyone I work with and family members to give up on that damn site because they surely dont care about their customers. But they dont care about all the shill bidders, I know everyone knows many, I know tons of people with 5-10 usernames and how about the sellers that charge so much for shipping, or dont ship it to you. There is so much BS on that site, ebay just isnt what it used to be I will tell you that, and Paypal sucks now as well. Use to be a very fun place and a way to find those items you couldnt, but it will die down like everything usually does and when it does I am moving to a new place. Point blank, Ebays customer support or lack of Sucks for being such a big business.
I have checked out overstock.com and they arent too bad, I never thought that ebay had so many problems till they turned me to the dark side, suspended me and I have found so many websites of problems and poor customer service from ebay.. What a waste a time of 6 years to stay a good ebayer and now just kicked off. Ebay sucks!!
Thanks, Tami. I wanted to make this version as easy to use as possible. I like this version much more than the previous one.
