ExpressionEngine Developer Bundle for TextMate

I’ve finally finished my second TextMate bundle. Just like my first one, this one is ExpressionEngine-related. But this time, it’s made for the EE developers out there. Those who get down and dirty making all the cool modules, plugins and extensions that make EE that much more powerful.

This bundle has a LOT of snippets. It’s about twice as big as my EE bundle. It has tab triggers for all the various methods available from the global classes DB, FNS, REGX, DSP, LANG, IN, EXT, LOC, SESS, TMPL and XML. It also has large snippets that help you quickly create mcp, mod, pi and ext files.

And last of all it has a keyboard shortcut to quickly load the EE developer docs in a smaller window for quick and easy access.

This is the first version and it’s pretty much finished, but it might need some refining. So I’m releasing it into the wild to let others kick the tires and try it out. If you find a bug, or have a feature request, let me know.

Download the TextMate EE Developer bundle.

This might actually encourage me to try my hand at writing a couple extensions that I know would help me out. Thanks for your work, Chris!

Hey Chris,

I can’t seem to get this bundle to add itself to the select box at the bottom of the TextMate edit area. Any ideas?

Not sure. I’m sure you’ve added it to ~/Library/Application Support/TextMate/Bundles, right? When it is installed correctly, it’ll show up as “EE Developer” in the menu.

I’m curious what your EE workflow is like. I assume you choose the option to write out all the templates as files. Do you typically edit straight from an FTP server or have you tried keeping the template files under version control and running the site locally for development?

I’m going to try out your bundle, thanks.

How in the world do you install this thing? I only see a way to svn a .bundle type of file and this is a zip file of a folder that has folders and files. Please explain.
