Get Out

Coming from me, this is a big deal, but I really like the Smirnoff ad called Get Out.  The ad is technically done very well.  There is no dialogue, no voices.  Just motion and an almost eerie background music.  It’s part of a series called Protest.  If I could find a copy of the ad somewhere, I’d link to it, but the only place that does have it is a pay-to-view place.  Lame.

It shows a guy sitting in front of his computer who suddenly notices a reporter on TV talking about him.  In the background are hundreds, if not thousands, of people in the street behind her.  He realizes they’re outside his window.  He slowly makes his way to his apartment window, and sees all kinds of people in the street below.  Geisha girls, an astronaut, samba dancers, etc.  They’re all beckoning to him to “Get Out”.

I guess the reason I like it is because it speaks to me.  I’m that guy stuck in front of his computer all the time.  I used to get out a LOT more and see things.  Do things.  I don’t anymore.

Just because I like the ad doesn’t mean I’m going to drink Smirnoff (although I DO like their Smirnoff Ice and Triple Black), but it does make me want to get out more.  See things.  Do things.  At my age and status, isolation is NOT a good thing.

Ya, you need to get up, get out, and do something, or else drink more Smirnoff. My problem has always been not having the time or money to do all the things I want to do. But these are all excuses. We all (by this I mean those who find them selves stuck in front of his or her computer with nowhere to go or be) need to stop making excuses and start making things happen.

Easier said than done I know.

By the way your site ROCKS!!!

I haven’t seen this ad yet, but I’ll definitely keep my eye out for it.

My wife started bringing Smirnoff Ice home last summer, and to my surprise, I actually liked it. The other great thing about it, is when you have a house full of teenage girls over for the weekend, you don’t have to worry about them stealing it out of the refrigerator. They won’t be caught dead drinking something that “old people” drink.

Oh yeah, GET OUT!

Nuthin’ wrong with some Smirnoff! Vodka’s a great mixer with just about anything; the Triple Black is pretty decent, as you say. They’ve also got one (at least I think it’s from Smirnoff…) called “O” or something like that. Orangy. Very good.

And, yeah, I need to get out more, too. [grin]

I love the Smirnoff Ice “Get Out” ad- any chance you’ve located a site where I’d be able to access it? The ad made me sit back and think about going out and seeing things too.

I actually have found a place where you can download and view the ad.

You might want to hurry, since I’m not sure if it will be up for long.
