I’m going on a short trip to Austin and San Antonio this weekend to visit friends and family. I haven’t seen Dave in almost a year and I haven’t seen my relatives there in well over a year, maybe over two years.
I’m not sure I’ll like all the traffic in Austin and San Antonio since I’ve become spoiled by clear country roads. I wonder if I’ll be a country bumpkin that’ll be driving the speed limit while angry city slickers whiz by honking and yelling profanities? Nah!
Anyway, I’m looking forward to this little excursion. It’ll be nice to be away from the computer and work for a little bit.
When I come back, I’ll have some pictures (if I remember to take them!) and hopefully some interesting stories to tell.
Thanks, Russ. I’m in San Antonio now at Dave’s. He’s got an EXCELLENT view from his guest bedroom. I’ll take a picture of it later.
I was right about traffic. I hate it. I read in the Austin paper this morning that Austin is tied for the worst traffic in a medium size city in the entire US. I believe it. San Antonio has traffic too, but it’s not as congested. At least you’re moving.
And I wasn’t getting passed by cussing people either. I actually enjoyed driving 80+ on the highway. It reminded me of driving on the autobahn, which I always enjoyed.
Glad to hear your having a good time.
I haven’t been to San Antonio since our honeymoon nearly 21 years ago. I was last in Austin about 3 years ago, and the traffic sucked awfully bad. On top of that, the street names change often, and are poorly marked. I was left being the one doing the cussing. I ended up in a minor fender bender out in the Hill Country, and the guy I had the accident with, used to live 4 blocks away from me here in MN! What are the odds of that?
Anyway, becareful driving, and have fun. Say “HI” to anyone you see in Austin who still might remember me after 20 years.
Have a safe trip.
