Greenpeace and others receive trophy

The South African news site News24.com has an article letting us know that Greenpeace, the Third World Network and BioWatch all received a very prestigious trophy today from the Sustainable Development Network (SDN).  The trophy is called the “Bullshit Trophy” and is made of a piece of wood on which two heaps of dried cow-dung are placed.

Barun Mitra of the SDN said the three NGOs are parasites that “prey on the blood of the poor.” He goes even further and says:

They are not interested in famine or poverty. This lot is concerned only about their own interests.  They sit here at the World Summit for Sustainable Development in their rich man’s hotels and romanticise everything.

There were also several hawker’s organizations that protested under the SDN’s banner as well.
