This is the kind of news I like to hear. It seems that the people of Basrah are starting to revolt against the Saddam loyalists stationed there. The British military is saying that the people are revolting, but the Saddam loyalists are lobbing mortars into crowds to try and suppress it. So the British responded by firing artillery shells into the loyalists headquarters.
I agree with Sky News’ Foreign Editor that this could be a key event because it could start more revolts all over Iraq. I really hope they are successful in their revolt and that the British troops are successful in protecting as many as they can.
