Karzai survives attempt on his life

The BBC reports that Hamid Karzai has survived an assassination attempt in Kabul. During a small parade, while Karzai was waving to people, a gunman ran up to the car and shot 4 times. All the bullets missed Karzai, but one hit the regional governer. His condition is still unknown. The American guards who were protecting Karzai, shot and killed the gunman and one other believed to be a bodyguard. Karzai later said he expected things like this to happen.
