The new King Kong movie is looking pretty good judging by the trailer. Peter Jackson seems to have captured the spirit of the original pretty well. You can definitely see his hand when it comes to the natives of the island. They look quite evil and nasty, almost Orcish.
I’m not sure what role that little girl is supposed to be playing, but they show her a couple of times in the trailer. I guess we’ll find out when the movie opens on December 14th.
Don’t forget the original will finally be released on DVD soon. With Peter Jackson and some of his WETA crew recreating the lost Spider sequence. As for the remake, I’m already planning on calling in sick. Jackson is an astounding filmmaker. The first movie I saw by him was a cheapie zombie movie called “Brain Dead.” Then I saw ads for “The Frighteners.” I never saw that movie but read in a magazine YEARS ago that he wanted to make King Kong. I remember saying, “Yeah, keep dreaming Kiwi boy…” Then Lord of The Rings comes out. Who knew??!! The man can make epics! Every picture and scene I’ve seen from King King looks fantastic. I like the scenes of The Venture with the lights shining down from the crow’s nest. Very moody in all that fog. Jackson, WETA, Big Hairy Gorilla, Naomi Watts!!! December can’t get here fast enough.
What??!! He dies at the end???!!! Oh thanks for spoiling it Annika!! Heh, heh! Kidding, kidding! Everybody knows the ending of King Kong. And…I saw it last night!! Awesome! Once we hit the island, the fun and scares keep on coming. We took our little niece to see it and she had a ball. She said, “The people ( natives ) are scarier than Kong.” She laughed when Kong killed the T-Rex, she’s kinda odd in some ways. Man, it’s official, special effects can do anything. That island was alive with fantastic creatures. Remind me not to crawl into any hollow logs. Br-r-r-r-r.
i saw it last night and i thought it was fan-tibbly-astic!!!the effects were outstanding, and the natives, where the hell did they find people that ugly! mate! it was a bit unreal when he killed all those t-rexes, but its a movie so i just went along with it. their where some bits that really gave me shivvers. and those creepy crawlers hey! my eye was twitching! their is one thing i have to fuss about, how the hell did they get a blody big grollia onto the boat from the island!!!! o well none cares, great movie! i would give it a 12 out of 10!!!
Welllll…I wouldn’t say it’s BETTER than the original. It expands things and certainly the special effects are leaps and bounds better than anything before, but the original is pretty much a landmark. It was the Star Wars of its day with wall-to-wall special effects. If you want to know how special effects-laden it was, buy the DVD and check out the bonus disk. The original King Kong was a jewel, with its atmospheric jungles and imaginative ( can’t really say accurate ) dinosaurs and I think Jackson knows that. You can hear his respect for it in interviews and if you stay until the end of the credits, you can see how he dedicates the movie to Merian C. Cooper, Ernest B. Schoedsak, Marcel Delgado, Willis O’Brien, Robert Armstrong and “The Incomperable Fay Wray.” By the way, do a Google search on Ms. Wray. She was a stunning beauty. No wonder King Kong went nuts.
i though the film was alright, i think they should make a film where king kong and the hulk are enimies and they fight all the time, i wunder who would win? i though it was pretty duff how king konk was all of a sudden in the city… how the f*** did they get hin to the ship by one little row boat that made the film crap.
I’ve been watching progress, and looking forward to this one for over six months now. It looks like a winner, so I will be pissed if it turns out to be a dud.
