I saw Garnett and the T-Wolves beat the Lakers (and the Laker refs!) last night. It was a great game. I think my blood-pressure was through the roof, though, because the refs made so many horrible calls against the T-Wolves it was like they were paid off or something. I’m not talking calls that could go either way, I’m talking freakin’ obvious calls.
For instance… the T-Wolves inbound a pass in the final seconds of the game. Rick Fox freaking pushes a T-Wolf out of bounds, and the ref doesn’t call a foul!! What the hell?! So the Lakers get the ball. Kobe moves down court and plants to shoot a 3-pointer. A T-Wolf comes close to him, but doesn’t touch him… foul!!! Kobe makes the 3-pointer AND gets 2 free throws! In overtime, just 12 seconds into it, Robert Horry flops on the ground in front of Garnett and they give the foul to Garnett! By this time, I was livid. It kept happening though for the rest of the game. I think half of Garnett’s fouls weren’t fouls at all.
This happened last year too when the Lakers played the Kings in the finals. So many horrible calls went in favor of the Lakers, it was ridiculous. This time though, the T-Wolves overcame Shaq, Kobe, the refs and the loss of Garnett in overtime to get a truly sweet win.
