Matrix Reloaded DVD in October

A Slashdot article notes that The Matrix Reloaded DVD will be available on October 14!  I will be at Wal-Mart bright and early to get my copy.

I know a few people who said they didn’t like it.  I admit, it was different than the first movie.  But I think this was necessary.  It’s not the same introductory story as the first.  The audience is familiar with certain characters and qualities of the Matrix, so to tell the second part of the story the same as the first would’ve killed it for me.  It would seem contrived.

As it is, the story progresses more quickly than the first.  It’s leading towards the final installment of the story.  It’s a bridge.  It’s meant to leave you hanging.  I love that it leaves you wondering whether the “real world” is another Matrix for those who don’t accept the first Matrix.  Is Neo simply a means of restarting the next Matrix or is he really going to end the Matrix cycle this time?  It leaves you with many questions, which makes you want to see Matrix Revolutions so much more.

Yeah, but didn’t you get the feeling that the directors basically took the technical aspects of the first movie, that “wow’d” the audience, and stretched them out a little longer because they were bankable, leaving the story line to just hang loosely over those crowd pleasing traits?
Wow, that was a long gramatically incorect sentance…but I just wanted to throw in my 2 cents and by that, let you know I was actually checking out your site from time to time wink – K

At times I felt some scenes were drawn out a bit, but that didn’t take away from the story for me. I liked watching Neo kick all that Smith butt. That was really the only scene that was over-the-top CGI.

mmm, I think the part I like best was the end…and I don’t mean that facisiously, I’m serious…I liked the out in the “real” world concept and the tease of Neo’s possibly constructed “role” within that “real” world.

I bought the Animatrix a few weeks back, and it explains a lot in terms of the influence of anime on the Matrix movies. The Wachowski bros are HUGE fans of anime, and wanted to bring that kind of storytelling and portrayal of action to the movies. That’s why you get huge, long-lasting fight scenes, giant car chase scenes and awesome visuals all-around.

I also like the end. It leaves you with a lot of questions and dying to see how it ends.
