The last couple of days have been absolutely miserable weather-wise. Yesterday it got up to 106.5° F (41.4° C), and today it broke 107° F! We’ve had no rain in several weeks. All the grass is dead. Our smaller trees would be dead too if we didn’t water them. Even our large trees, including our gigantic pine, are looking stressed.
The other day we had to dig a hole for our new mailbox. We dug down about three feet to make it secure. The ground was powder dry all three feet. I don’t know how any plants are making it through this.
There’s been rain all around us, but never here. Last Sunday, I was about an hour south of here in Texarkana and it was raining cats and dogs. It was raining hard on me all the way back too, but stopped about 10 miles south of home. We had only had some thunder and wind, no rain.
The stupid front that’s stalled out north of us looks like it’s finally making its way toward us, so hopefully it will bring some rain with it. It has been for everwhere else so far.
Some good news, though, is that I finally was able to order my free color iPod from freeipods.com. I had all my referrals several weeks ago, but they weren’t shipping the new color iPods then. They were apparently trying to get rid of their supply of B&W iPods. Today was the first day they started shipping the color ones, so I submitted my order. It should be here in a couple weeks, hopefully.
