More on Fink & X11

Man!  I’m really enjoying this!  I’ve now got a different window manager running on my Mac in X11.  I’m using Blackbox.  I’ve also setup Sawfish, but I like Blackbox better.  I’ve got Blackbox using a style called BeOS.  You can see both the built-in Quartz window manager and Blackbox running side-by-side in this picture (the link opens in a new window).

I plan on installing a few more styles and then continuing on with installing more open source apps.  Only a geek could enjoy something like this so much.  I certainly qualify as a geek then.

I actually got the Fluxbox window manager installed and running WITHOUT using Fink.  I’ve learned how to edit the .xinitrc file, so it was easy to setup once it installed.  I was worried that it wouldn’t be able to configure, but once I told it where to place the binary, it found all the libraries it needed.  OK… time for bed.  It’s late.
