More Updates

Due to a complaint about stealing designs, I’ve altered the design of the site a bit.  I removed the circle flower icon and replaced it with my Tengwar monogram.  I also altered the green in the header and footer a slight bit.

I’ve added a custom entry field called Meta Description in my EE control panel.  This allows me to write a separate description for the meta tag in each entry.  And I’ve altered the comments template to allow for the title and meta description of each entry to be in the header.

I’ve also changed the display of my categories.  They are now nested instead of linear.  This makes it a little easier to see how the site is organized.

I’m still trying to work out the problem with the relative date plugin.  Hopefully I can get it fixed soon.

I figured out that there’s two places in the EE control panel for localization settings.  One in the Admin section and one in the My Account section.  Once I changed both of those to Pacific time (which is where my server is), then things worked.

I’ve discovered that my imported pMachine comments didn’t bring over the author data.  Lovely!  Still trying to figure out a way to solve this.

And the entry pictures are still messed up.  The drop-shadow is all wrong.  I haven’t spent much time on that today.  I’ll get it worked out by this evening.

There are other items on my To Do list as well.  It seems like I won’t ever reach the end of it!

Over the weekend, I added a pattern to the navigation bar, changed the Blogtimes plugin a bit, switched the Monthly archives with the Category archives, removed the drop shadow from the pics and nitpicked at the CSS.  There’s STILL more to do though…

Someone complained about the design? I thought everyone was permitted to use the stylesheet from CSS zen garden?

I don’t think the person had a problem with the stylesheet. Their problem was with me using the circle flower icon or something. They never mentioned exactly what offended them.

I pointed out that the designs were different enough. The CSS and XHTML aren’t the same. The only thing that I could see was the circle flower icon. So I changed it.
