My First iTunes Music Store Purchase

I use iTunes all the time.  I like having some kind of music on in the background when I work.  Most of the time, I use the Radio feature and listen to Ambient music.  My favorite channel there is Limbik Frequencies.  Tonight, I tuned into Limbik, and they were playing this song that was… different.  It was light-hearted.  It reminded me of lazy summer days and nights hanging out with friends.  It had a catchy beat.  I looked to see what song it was, and it is called Quite Spectacular, on the album Portakabin Fever by Hint.  I decided I had to have the song, so I went looking to see if I could find more info on it on the Net.  There were some reviews of it, all of which were favorable.  I looked at several sites, but couldn’t find a copy of it.  As a last ditch effort, I search the iTunes Music Store and they had it!  I previewed it to make sure it was the same song I had just heard, and bought it when I knew it was.

It was almost too easy.  And at 99¢ a song, it was painless too.  This could be the beginning of a bad, potentially expensive habit.  Must… resist… more… purchases!

I’m weak.  I gave in and bought another song by DJ Shadow called Organ Donor (Extended Overhaul Mix).  It’s another song I heard on Limbik.  I didn’t realize all the excellent music out there by lesser-known artists.  I might make some more purchases in a little bit.

5/9: I’ve now become a fan of a group called Lemon Jelly.  They’ve got some music that is perfect for playing while working.  One of my favorites so far is called “In The Bath”.  “Space Walk” and “Elements” are also good.

Be careful, Chris. Once you start down this path forever will it dominate your music listening. I try to stay away from the iTunes Store except when I simply need to find a song that I discovered I did not possess, otherwise I go in there and do not come back out without having picked up another ten or fifteen songs.
