My Internet Connection Speed

My internet connection speed

Thought I’d share what my Internet connection speed is. Not too shabby. A whole lot faster than when I lived in Lockesburg with the DSL connection.

Do you want me to edit your first comment and fix the mistake?

It makes sense that most cable connections are about the same speed. I’ve read the cable companies are experimenting with much faster connections in Chicago. I think it’s Chicago. Hopefully that filters down to other markets quickly.

Interestingly enough, I get better speeds reaching the San Francisco server than the Seattle server, which is much much closer to me.

My upload speed is almost identical to yours, but my download speed is 4.4 times faster. Never thought I would say it, but… cable rocks!

Wow. You must have one fat pipe to your house. I have a cable connection too. Hopefully they bump our speeds here too.

Ok, so I have a question. I have roadrunner and clocked about the same speeds as you did… but I’m thinking about switching to DSL (for reasons unrelated to speed) and according to the website, the best DSL plan they offer is supposed to have “3.0 to 6.0 Mbps Downstream” and “384 to 608 Kbps Upstream”.

So with the kbps to mbsp conversion, does it mean that the DSL is faster or slower?? Cuz really, I’m so confused.

It looks like the download will be at least as good as your cable, probably a bit better. The upload will be about the same. Of course, the speed also depends on how far you are from the station. The further you are, the slower it will be.

Thanks! I knew you’d know. smile
