I’m really interested in the Tengwar Quenya language and writing system. I’ve tried my hand at transliterating my name into Tengwar:
My name translated into Quenya is Erucolindo. That written out in Tengwar looks like:
This is written with a cursive Tengwar font I found. I believe this is correct, but I would need an expert to verify it.
i want to write some names just like “the ring” script. altho im not quite understanding it. is it correct to take the name and just use the letters from the alphabet or do i need to translate the name first then spell it out? where can i go for proof positive information on this-is there any professors or such that can give me the answers?
What confuses people about this is that there’s more than one way (or mode) to do this. Tolkien used a couple different modes. One way is to transcribe English directly into Tengwar. The inscriptions in some copies of the Lord of the Rings and Silmarillion books are examples of this.
Another way is to translate English into Sindarin or Quenya (or another language) and then write them in Tengwar. The One Ring inscription is an example of this.
Regarding which is correct, they both are. It just depends on which way appeals more to you.
