My new iMac

My new iMac!

I was surprised BIG time today by the arrival of my 17” iMac!  I was told I wouldn’t get it until the end of next week, maybe.  I was even more surprised to find the OS X 10.2 installation CDs in the box as well!  So I’m now running Jaguar on my new iMac.

My initial impressions of this computer are very good.  The screen is MUCH bigger than I thought it would be.  I knew it was 17”, but I couldn’t really picture how big it is.  The color and brightness are AMAZING.  VERY crisp and bright.  And it’s a snap to move the screen around with just 2 fingers.  I also ordered the iSub subwoofer to go with the speakers that come with the iMac.  The sound is awesome.  Very clean and the total range between the included speakers and the subwoofer are astounding.

My inital impressions of Jaguar are also VERY good.  The system is much more polished and MUCH faster.  Of course, I went from 10.1.5 on a Pismo Powerbook to Jaguar on a top-of-the-line iMac, so of course it’s going to be faster.

Today has been a great day so far.
