Well, my appointment for the 4th was cancelled at the last minute and rescheduled to this morning. I didn’t eat anything for almost 12 hours before I went. When I got there, she took some blood samples. For some reason, she chose one of my smaller veins and she couldn’t quite get it right. She kept moving the needle back and forth in my arm. It left a bruise. Then, while she was taking the blood, it felt like bubbles were moving through my vein. It was taking a long time, so I looked down at the needle. It was weird seeing a needle sticking out of your arm. She said my vein had collapsed and it was making it hard to get blood. I have had blood taken many times, and I’ve NEVER had a vein collapse on me before. So I opened and closed my hand a few times and it filled the beakers.
Then I had to give a urine sample. I know… too much info. Then I had an EKG. I have to go back in on Monday afternoon to get the results. They will be seeing whether I have a hyperactive thyroid and/or diabetes or hypoglycemia. I REALLY hope I don’t have diabetes. My grandfather has it, and I just don’t want it. At least with hypoglycemia you can control it without needles.
I’ll find out on Monday…
