My Xbox Dies a Horrible Death

The moment I’ve dreaded would come has finally arrived. I turned on my Xbox 360 the other day and was confronted with the sinister Circle of Death… three blinking red lights. I fiddled around with it and got it to work again. I was able to watch some video off of the hard drive for a bit and shut it down thinking I had fixed the problem. Earlier today I tried to show off Gears of War to my cousin, and it froze up on me again and mockingly displayed the Circle of Death again. Xbox 360s have a bad reputation for crapping out on people, but I was hoping I was going to be lucky and get a good console. How naive of me.

I tried going through the usual steps of checking the color of the light on the power supply, unplugging everything and plugging it back in, removing the hard drive, etc. Nothing worked. So I called Xbox tech support and surprisingly got through within 5 minutes. He walked me through the troubleshooting steps again only to come to the same conclusion I had come to… I was the proud owner of a very expensive doorstop. He gave me all the shipping info over the phone and a reference number. UPS is supposed to come tomorrow and pick it up. Hopefully I’ll have a replacement by next week.

I’m kind of upset it bricked on me, but not that surprised really. Like I said before, they have a reputation for bricking. We’ll see how long the next one lasts.

If my Xbox keeps bricking on me, I may do that, Lucas.

I haven’t had any problems with my PS3, but then again, all I do with it is watch blu-ray discs from Netflix once or twice a week.
