We had a pretty nasty storm yesterday, especially for December. All day, the wind had been gusting upwards of 30 mph, sometimes higher. We had to take down our flag, otherwise it’d break the mount it was in. Then at around 2 pm, some seriously dark, low-hanging clouds moved in. The weather service had issued a tornado watch with warnings of hail and high winds as well. Lovely. Dad and I moved our cars into our old barn to shelter them from hail. At one point, this very low cloud that was over our house kept moving back and forth about 3 times. It would slowly move towards our house, then slowly move away. I’ve NEVER seen a cloud do that before. There must’ve been some seriously high winds going on up there. A little later, a cloud dropped down out of a hole in the other cloud, but it wasn’t spinning, so I wasn’t worried. A little later on, the same system spawned some tornadoes near Little Rock though, so we were lucky. All we ended up getting was some rain.
Below is a picture of the low hanging cloud that was over our house.
