New Features

OK, I’ve cleaned up the code behind a lot of my site.  Made it leaner and even more dependent on CSS.  I’ve also shamelessly taken two nifty keen features from NSLog().

The first is the most obvious.  Whenever you move your mouse over a link with a title attribute, a yellowish, semi-transparent box pops up with a message and the URL to give you an idea of what the link is about and where it’s going.  The second feature is more subtle.  At the top of every page, there’s a white gradient that gives the illusion of the contents fading away as you scroll.  Go ahead… try it.  I’ll wait.  Cool, huh?

I also used a new feature from webgraphics.  After each link that takes you to an external page, there’s a tiny icon.  This is visual reinforcement for an external link.  Notice that not all links have it?  Ahhhh…

I also removed the vertical divider, moved the title banner up above everything else and changed its line to a dotted one, gave the pics a little more padding and shrunk the subtitles a bit on the right to clean up the appearance.

Overall, these are minor changes, but ones I really like.  Let me know if the little popups are too annoying.  If enough people call me bad names because of them, then I’ll remove them.

That’s a neat fade effect, Chris! Nice work.

P.S. I unchecked “show email” and then previewed my comment. When my comment was previewed the show email checkbox was checked again. That’s a little deceiving. You might want to look into that.

That must be a pMachine thing. I’ll check into it.
