New movies stuff

I had some free time on my hands, so I decided to add something completely trivial to my site! In the current sidebar on the top left, I have a movies subsection. I used to add these things by hand in an HTML file. I also keep a text file on my computer of all the movies I’ve ever seen (don’t ask why). I decided to set up a MySQL database that stored all of those movies. I created a few PHP scripts; one allows me to add new movies and rate them, another pulls and displays different information from the movie database based on a command I send it and the third one imported all my movies from my text file into the database so I wouldn’t have to add them all by hand!
What’s the purpose? I don’t know. I just thought I’d add it. I’m not sure if it’s adding a lot of overhead to the server. It shouldn’t, but my host’s server has been very slow the last week or so. Let me know if it’s just too slow for you.
Very impressive. There is no way I could ever remember every movie I’ve ever seen. BUT… I did notice one title missing from your list. I remember back in 1982 taking you and your sister to the theater to see “The Dark Crystal”. I remember almost nothing from the movie itself, but what does stick in my memory, was that you were so scared by the intensity of this Jim Henson creation that you wanted to leave half way through the movie. I talked you into staying and seeing how things turned out, and sure enough, all the way home you were telling me how happy you were that you stayed and watched the rest of the movie.
Why do I remember all this? I have no idea. Memory is a funny thing.
