Apple reportedly posted specs on the new PowerMacs on its Apple Store site, but quickly removed them soon afterwards. The new specs are:
The 8GB of RAM seems a little high and the 1GHz bus speed is a quantum leap in speed for Apple. If these are real specs and not some intern goofing off, then this is a MAJOR jump in power for the PowerMacs. Most likely, the G5s are the 64-bit IBM Power970 chips. I really hope so.
We should find out within a few days if this was a mistake or the real deal.
The G5 is looking mighty tempting compared to my old tired Dual 800 MHz G4. I know I’ll be getting one (Dual 2 GHz) within 6 months of it’s release.
