New RSS Feeds

I’ve just finished creating two new RSS feeds to my site.

RSS+Comments

The first new feed is just like my original one, except it displays the last 10 entries with their associated comments.  Hopefully, if people see the comments through their newsfeed readers, then it will inspire them to leave their own comments.  I’ve tested it out with Shrook and it works fine, but if you see some errors, please let me know.

LinkBox RSS

The second feed shows the last 20 links that I’ve added to my LinkBox section.  These are links I find interesting or helpful in some way.  I’ve also tested this one with Shrook and it works fine.

This is one of those things I need to study up on a bit more. I’ve been meaning to add the option for an RSS feed with comments, but the last time I messed around with my RSS feeds it caused all sorts of havoc with entries displaying multiple times in readers due to them being updated when new comments arrive.

Any suggestions on where I could go for a good rundown of how to customize RSS feeds?

Love the design of your site, BTW. Man I wish I had this kind of talent. grin

RSS feeds are a lot easier to mess with in EE for some reason. At least for me they are. What I did was look at the RSS 2.0 templateto figure out what is getting put where. Then I started adding/removing EE tags until I got the end result I wanted.

The RSS+comments was a little trickier. That feed uses PHP to get the comments in correctly. Do a search on the EE support forums for “rss with comments” and in one of those threads is where I found out how to do it. I don’t have the link in my browser history anymore, otherwise I’d share it.
