Ah, it’s good to see the Dems reverting back to old tricks after so long an absence.
Hmmm… let’s see. Our candidate is a freakin’ crook and loser, but we were too stupid to see it earlier. We’re for sure going to lose control of the Senate if he drops out and we have no candidate. What’s that? The NJ law says that we can’t replace Captain Crook with someone else within 51 days before the election? Well, that obviously doesn’t apply to us! We’re above the law. We know the NJ Supreme Court is notorious for controversial decisions. We can make up some BS about the need to preserve a two-party system. And we’ve got a good track record of idiot supreme court justices siding with us. Remember Florida? We almost got away with that one. Maybe we can get away with this one!
I have no doubt that this will be overturned by the US Supreme Court. It sets a very dangerous precedent for the future. Both parties could essentially ignore state and federal election laws and replace any loser candidates they want whenever they wanted. Last I checked, those laws were there for a reason. And there have been one candidate elections on the local level all the time. Our local elections here have about 4 or 5 candidates who are running unchallenged, and they’re all Dems. The ONLY reason the Dems are kicking and screaming over this one is because it’s all about control of the Senate.
