Poll on US ties rocks Iran

The Iranian media recently conducted 3 separate polls with 1500 people on the relations between the US and Iran.  The results (which were very similar between all of them) showed that 74% of respondents over the age of 15 support dialogue with the US, and 45.8% believe Washington’s policy on Iran is “to some extent correct”.  This is a very clear indication that Iranians are wanting to reconnect with the US.

So how did the ultra-conservatives in the government respond?  They accused the editors of spreading lies!  They have shut-down the newspapers who ran the poll , and are bringing the editors to trial!  Amazing.  The reformists in the government are defending the editors saying they only ran the polls because they were asked to by the government.  This is a clear sign that there are major rifts between these two parties, and that Iranians are sick of the oppression from the ultra-conservatives.

The ultra-conservatives are making themselves look like fools in the people’s eyes.  Just the other day, a retired Iranian actress was very happy to meet a younger actor who had studied with her late husband.  In a show of motherly affection, the actress kissed the actor on the cheek after shaking his hand.  The ultra-whackos immediately put out arrest warrants for both of them!  Good grief!  That is completely ridiculous!  I really hope that the people of Iran revolt against the whackos.  I guarantee they will have the support of the American people.
