Quartz Desktop

I found a very nice little utility that lets you trick out your desktop. It’s called Quartz Desktop. It allows you to use any Quartz composition as a desktop, rather than a static image. These can either include the default one included with OS X Tiger or any composition made with Quartz Composer (another application included with Tiger).

Even with my aging 17” flat-panel G4 iMac and its measly 32 MB video card, it runs smoothly and only ever now and then causes a slight hiccup in a window. With the newer Macs, you shouldn’t even notice a difference in performance.

On a side note, I can’t stop listening to Don’t Phunk With My Heart by Black Eyed Peas. I don’t think a song can be any more catchy. It’s one of those songs that you can’t sit still when you hear it.

New from MTV: Pimp My Mac!

Man, you need Tiger to use this, so I am going to have to wait a little bit longer to check it out.

What?! Paul “Code Meister” Burdick doesn’t have Tiger yet? I’m speechless…

Would you update your main development computer to a brand new operating system a week or two before a brand new release of your own software?

Canna risk it, laddie!

Damn you and your logical answers!

As a desktop, I found it quite annoying, but it makes a damn cool screensaver.

awesome, a fellow mac-a-holic. randomly stumbled onto your site while fighting off insomnia and am intrigued….
new black eyed peas song is definitely addicting, and did you travel with YWAM???

Glad to hear it brightened up your night! I also have sleepless nights every now and then. Hate ‘em.

Yes, I was with YWAM for eight years in Hawaii, Australia and Germany. I traveled to other countries in those eight years too, but those three were where I was based. Have you also been a part of YWAM?
