Redesign Questions

Following up on my previous post about redesigning the site, I thought I’d ask a few questions to see what existing features of the site are being used and which ones aren’t.

#1 - Each entry has a collection of small icons that represent the permalink, comment and trackback count, searching Google news and searching for related Web sites through Google.  Which of these do you often use and which do you not and why?

#2 - Are the Google ads annoying or distracting?  Is their format too large, too small?  Should they be in another place?  If so, where?

#3 - Which form of archive listing do you use more?  By category or by month?  I’ll include both in the redesign, but not both on the homepage.  One will be pushed back into the Archives section.

#4 - Does the homepage display too many previous entries?  Would you rather see more or less on the homepage?

That’s basically it, for now.  If I think of any more questions, I’ll add them here.  Please feel free to add any other suggestions/comments as well.

I’m no web guru but I like the design and layout of your site. Except for the huge Submit and Preview buttons at the bottom of this page. Maybe you could do something about that. P.S. I’m using IE 6 on WinXP.

I don’t know why I never noticed the ridiculous size of the comment buttons before. I’ve fixed them now.

Much better! I didn’t know if you did that for the visually impaired or what. LOL

I thought it was to encourage people to leave comments… lol.
