Ronald Reagan died today at his home with his wife, Nancy, and kids at his bed side.
Reagan was the first president I can remember as a kid. I was alive during the Ford and Carter administrations, but I was too young to know they were the president. I can remember his speeches on communism and the “Star Wars” campaign. I remember his famous speech about the Berlin Wall.
He seemed more like a grandfather than a president. Someone you could easily talk to. I think what I liked best about him was his love for his country. You may not agree with all of his decisions, but you have to admit he was certainly popular with the people.
Rest in peace, Mr. President.
Ronald Reagan was definitely one of our greatest presidents ever, and I would even go so far as to say that he is up there with Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln was great because he reunited this country at the most troubled time in its history. Reagan was great because he had the courage to stare down the Soviets during the most dangerous period in world history. He didn’t blink with Libya either, and made Khadafi think twice about his terrorist ways. The Republican party should be proud to be the party of Reagan just as they are proud to be the “Party of Lincoln”.
“He seemed more like a grandfather than a president. Someone you could easily talk to.” have you ever met him.
he was a film star, who had the experience to use propaganda at its max, e.g. Arnie films and stalone films showing how bad every other county is.
The poor inoccent africans dying with no food deserve the one minute silence not him. He manipulated the american people into thinking of his ways on war.
He sold the nuclear war heads to saddam which he used to kill the kurds. He constantly sold him masses of weapons which saddam then used to invade kuwait.
I could go on for hours but i dont want to affend you and your opinions.
You being an american probably wont even post this on the site. but i hope yo do, to show how your site can bring powerful opinions and can all most be educational.
P.S If i have offended it was un intentional, sorry.
nice site, I gota get one of these.
“have you ever met him.
he was a film star, who had the experience to use propaganda at its max, e.g. Arnie films and stalone films showing how bad every other county is.”
It’s funny that moonbats from all over use the “actor” card immediately with Ronald Reagan. As if his being an actor before meant he was never really a genuine person at all in his life. Most moonbats have never met a real actor either, but they claim to be experts on their lives. I guarantee sirwan never met Reagan either, yet he spews out bile as if he knew the “real” Reagan.
If you think Arnie/Stallone films are all about portraying other countries as bad, then that’s what you want to read into them. Anyone who is intellectually honest will know that’s a load of tripe.
“The poor inoccent africans dying with no food deserve the one minute silence not him. He manipulated the american people into thinking of his ways on war.”
Oh yes… Africans are all “poor” and “innocent”. They’ve never committed any atrocities against each other. It’s just a giant utopian continent that has been destroyed by evil whitey. If you truly believe that, then you don’t know jack about African history. I’m not an eminent scholar on it either, but I at least know that Africa has been torn apart by wars for as long as their history goes back. I suspect sirwan knows this too, but won’t admit it.
It’s also funny that in the minds of foamy-mouth moonbats African troubles are never the fault of their messed up African governments, nor even the fault of European countries who have (ex)colonies in Africa, but of the Americans. In fact, ALL world problems are direct results of America in their minds. It’s a sickness of the mind, really, to be so fixated with one country… to so hate one country that nothing they do can ever be good. They claim that we’re brainwashed, yet the only thing they “know” about America is how “evil” it is. Who are the brainwashed ones?
And explain to me how one man can “manipulate” almost 200 million people into believing “his ways on war”? Manipulate a people who pride themselves on their freedoms and ability to make their own decisions. The answer is you can’t because he didn’t. It’s impossible.
“He sold the nuclear war heads to saddam which he used to kill the kurds. He constantly sold him masses of weapons which saddam then used to invade kuwait.”
This statement shows just how much sirwan doesn’t know. Saddam didn’t use nukes on the Kurds. He used chemical weapons. And sirwan either has forgotten or won’t admit that European countries were also selling weapons to Saddam. The Soviets were backing Iran and giving them weapons, so the Western countries backed Iraq. In fact, the closest thing to a country selling nukes to Saddam would’ve been France’s dealings with Saddam, since they sold him (and built it for him!) a nuclear plant.
Were Western dealings with Saddam a good thing to do? Who can really say definitively? Yes and no both work. If no weapons were given to Saddam, most likely Soviet-backed Iran would’ve killed countless more innocent people while taking over a gigantic chunk of the world’s oil supply and the Soviet Union would probably still be around.
Another interesting observation is that “sophisticated” moonbats like to crow that the world and it’s politics is a complex affair. No black and white. No good and evil. Yet that logic somehow doesn’t apply to anything the US does. That’s always evil. Always black. Please…
“You being an american probably wont even post this on the site. but i hope yo do, to show how your site can bring powerful opinions and can all most be educational.”
There’s a classic example of baiting someone. Mock their history, president, people AND nationality, but then claim you’re just trying to better them. Notice he says that if I respond, my site can “almost be educational” (I corrected the spelling for him). Now it really is educational, since he’ll know how to spell it in the future.
I actually feel a little bit ridiculous even bothering to reply to this ill-informed individual and his antagonistic left-wing rant but I am bored so what the hey.
I could go on for hours but i dont want to affend you and your opinions.
I guess I am not “affended” since this is not even a word.. unless you mean “offended”. However my feelings definitely are not “offended” since they are not sentient beings. And I am not “offended” since my opinions are based on actual thought, rather than the knee-jerk emotions that are such a driving force in modern politics.
You being an american probably wont even post this on the site.
What does one’s nationality have to do with whether or not they permit dissenting opinions on their blog? Especially where America is concerned… America’s entire political system is based on allowing and even encouraging intelligent discussion of the issues. Actually on that basis, chris, I guess you could go ahead and remove Sirwan’s posting if you were so inclined.
He sold the nuclear war heads to saddam which he used to kill the kurds.
Saddam gassed the kurds with chemical weapons developed by his own regime. No nukes were ever sold to Saddam.
He constantly sold him masses of weapons which saddam then used to invade kuwait.
Hind sight is always 20/20.
I guess I should appreciate the fact that you are on the blog expressing your opinion at all, Sirwan. Too many people out there waste their time on pop music and tabloid trash and to even begin to pay attention to the real issues is beyond most of them. The debate is important and it should go on, but above all it should be thoughtful and the facts should be correct.
So what you americans are trying to say is that you are the angels of the world and have never ever been the bad guys, allways the good guys who have never ever supported war and never provoked war with your movies. You americans aren’t arigant, are you? In every movie we ever see, you always have an american flag at the background of the scene. Look out for the flag in every film and tv show, i garuantee you, you will find one.
One question.
Before you read it, put your self in a british persons shoes.
“When the world trade centre blew up, how come so many people lit candles and started to sing all the sad songs out on the streets and all that business… How come you dont do all that for the people around the world who are dying of lack of food and war. How come just for your people. Your supposed to be the saviers of the world.”
Nice strawman, Dave S. NOWHERE did either of us say anything like we Americans are the saviors of the world. NOWHERE did we say we’ve never been the bad guys. What we DID say was that we are sick of the rest of the world always painting us as the bad guys. Like you said, “put yourself in our shoes” for a moment. Imagine the entire world, practically, always harping on how bad your country was. How evil everything you do is. If that were true, then we’d have nuked the rest of the world long ago.
How do you equate a flag in a movie as either arrogant or sufficient a motive to provoke a war?! If seeing another countries flag in a movie makes you want to go to war with them, then I think you have issues. You won’t see a flag in every movie or show, that’s a stupid statement. You shouldn’t guarantee something you have no clue about.
Your last paragraph is so ridiculous, it’s almost funny. I don’t see England mourning and throwing on sack cloth for the woes of the rest of the world either. In fact, I don’t see any country doing what you expect America to do. You can’t tell me England wouldn’t react in the same way if planes were flown into Parliament and Buckingham Palace, killing thousands of innocent people in the process.
I will put my self in your shoes. You got all the luxaries in the world. You idiot. You dont have that second thought concience do you? coz your rapped in cotton wool, with the way you live. You dont have a clue how others in the world live, deep inside you probably dont care.
About “put your self in our shoes”
Typical american. you aint a victim of nothing!!!
Dave S., first thing… learn to spell. Second thing… learn basic English grammar. Both of those will greatly help people’s impressions of you and your opinions. As it is now, you really do look like a pissed-off teen who knows jack #### about America.
Yeah, we Americans are “wrapped in wool” (whatever that means) and don’t know the horrible pain the rest of the world is feeling. Last I saw, England was pretty much wrapped in wool too.
I see now that your limp-wrist arguments are getting shot down, you’re resorting to yelling and name calling. That’s always a great way to prove how intelligent and correct your viewpoint is.
I hope terrorists feel a lot of pain when they get bombed in Afghanistan. They certainly don’t give a flip about dishing out pain, fear and death to others.
I’m not saying there’s tons of destruction going on in America. Really… where are you pulling these things from? Oh, nevermind. I think I know. And Bush stealing oil (the dreaded “O” word, liquid evil to all moonbats of the world) from Iraq is stupid. Back it up with proof, Dave. It’s very easy to spout a bunch of crap without any proof.
“Millions of points I’m vague on”. I didn’t know I had made a million points.
who said anything about me liking terrorists you prick. you try to avoid the facts by talking to directly to me other then answering questions to everyone, things like i cant spell and english grammer.
the basic fact is that.
AMERICA BOMBED ‘1 MINUTE SILENCE’ AND THE WHOLE WESTERN LIFESTYLE HAS CHANGED INCLUDING RACISM, HAS GONE FURTHER.
IRAQ GETS BOMBED, WHO CARES JUST GET ARE MEN OUT OF THERE BEFORE MORE DIE.
OK TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT YOUR SOLDIERS WHO DONE ALL THOSE DIRTY THINGS LIKE ORAL SEX AND MAKE IN THEM DO SEXUAL STUFF. EXPLAIN THAT THEN, YOU PRICK.
YOU AINT GOT A CLUE. YOU PRICK
Dave S. or Tony, since you’re the same person… you know, all caps really makes you look like an ass. Throw in the name calling, and I can just picture you in real life screaming to the top of your lungs with a vein popping out on your forehead. Eyes bulging, foam building around the edges of your mouth because you’re beginning to realize the other person thinks you’re a joke and your arguments (if that’s what you want to call them) are absurd. Now, to answer your last post…
Once again, you’re pretending I said something I didn’t. Where did I say you liked terrorists?
Finally, a point you’re correct on. After 9/11, America did change. So did the entire political world. Learn to live with it, because it’s not going to go back to how it was. And no, racism isn’t worse than it used to be.
If we pull our troops out of there, we will be abandoning a baby democracy to the wolves that surround it. We would once again let the Iraqi people down and they would forever hate the Western world.
The soldiers who did the crap at Abu Ghraib were punished for what they did, and deservedly so. Every single one of them. That’s how I explain that. Since we’re on the topic of soldiers doing bad things, explain to me why UN “peacekeepers” haven’t been punished for raping and sexually exploiting refugees in Africa? And filming it too.
Well said, I feel the same. He’s also the first president that I can remember being the president. The thing I remember the most is the arms reduction deals with the Soviets, and remembering how important that was to this country. Seems like so long ago we had the Soviets to worry about. The only bad I can think about his time as president is the Iran Contra thing, that’s pretty amazing when you thing about the scandals other presidents have been involved in, for some reason the name Clinton comes to mind. Ronald Reagan is probably one of the top five presidents that we have ever had. He will be missed.
