Saddam Up To His Old Tricks Again

I KNEW it would happen.  Saddam Insane has once again blamed the UN inspectors of spying.  I think he’s doing this because of several different reasons:

1. He’s getting very, very nervous about the military build-up around his country.  Not only is the US amassing troops and such, but now Britain is sending a carrier group and more troops over to the region.

2. The weapons inspectors are getting closer to finding the WMDs.  Iraqi officials have been getting more and more vocal with their complaints against the inspectors lately.  Saying that they’re becoming “arrogant” and “too intrusive”.  The thing is, the inspectors are whittling away at the possible places and WILL eventually find the evidence they are looking for.  The Iraqis know this, so they’re beginning to become more and more flustered.

3. Blaming the inspectors for spying will slow the inspections because the UN will have to investigate the allegations.

4. Saddam is a lunatic.

5. Saddam needs to look tough for his people in order not to lose their support.  If he says or does nothing to show he is in control, then the people will lose confidence in him and drop him like a hot potato WHEN the war starts.  This way, it still seems like Saddam is “generously” allowing the inspectors in, but can kick them out because they’re “spies”.

6. It worked in the past, so it should work again.  The last time Saddam did this, the inspectors were forced to leave.
