Shock Therapy

We’ve been hearing a LOT lately about how if we take out Saddam Hussein, it would create chaos and war in the region, possibly even starting World War 3!  It seems that an Arab, who happens to be the editor-in-chief of the Arab equivalent of Newsweek, disagrees with this.  His argument is that Saddam’s defeat is NEEDED in order to cause positive reforms in the region.  He says that Arabs are living in a dreamworld where the governments point to any external opposition as the source of their internal problems.  The only way this can be changed is by a massive defeat, not by diplomacy or propaganda.  I think this is very well known by the regional governments, and THAT is why they’re making such a big stink about not toppling Hussein.
