Shorty, the Disemboweler

Shorty Versus Taz

As you can see from the above picture, Taz has finally met his match in my mini-Dachshund Shorty.  Taz had lasted through our biggest cat, Tuff and our other dog, Kelsey.  But he didn’t stand a chance with Shorty.  Soon after Shorty was done disemboweling Taz, he moved on to a stuffed fish and gutted it in record time as well.  Needless to say, I won’t be buying stuffed animals for Shorty to play with anymore.  It’ll have to be made of Titanium if it’s going to last more than 2 days.  I think Shorty is actually some kind of terminator dog.  Look at those eyes…

As an aside, yesterday Shorty killed a large field rat that had foolishly found its way up to our patio.  Shorty was digging around under a tarp and going nuts trying to get the rat.  Finally, the rat tried to make a dash for freedom, but he underestimated Shorty’s ability to go from 0-60 in less than 2 seconds.  Shorty caught up with him and shook him until the rat’s back broke.  It died a few seconds later.  He’s a better mouser than our cats!
