So Far, So Good

So far, the war has been going very well.  We haven’t seen too much resistance and the Iraqis are surrendering faster than the military can handle them.  I’m still concerned that this is just the expected easy part, and the hard part will be when the troops reach the outskirts of Baghdad.  These “A-Day” air strikes are supposed to be softening up the Republican Guard who are dug in around Baghdad, and I hope that’s exactly what they’re accomplishing.

I hope that the urban warfare nightmare that people imagined could happen never does.  I’m positive there will be stronger resistance in the next few days, but also positive that it will be overcome.

I’m also really happy to see the people in southern Iraq coming out and thanking the US/UK forces.  To see video and pictures of troops shaking hands with Iraqis and tearing down pictures of Saddam is very uplifting.
