Today I took our two dogs outside to play with them. My mini-Dachshund, Shorty, has a favorite toy he likes to play with outside. It’s a soft, green ring that’s perfect for rolling along the ground at high speeds. Shorty loves to chase the ring while it’s rolling.
Our other dog, Kelsey, a Shelty, just likes to bark while I throw the ring. Well today, as I was really putting some power behind a ring throw, she jumped in too close as I threw the ring. It beaned her smack dab in the eye. One second it was excited barking, the next it was painful whining. I didn’t even know what happened because I had just let go of the ring when she jumped in the way. I bent down to check her out and her left eye was closed. I opened it up and checked it out. The eyeball itself was fine, and she started play barking again, so I kept playing.
Well, later tonight I noticed she’s half winking. I took a closer look and her eye is all poofy! I think I gave her a black eye, or the dog equivalent! LOL! She’s going to be ok though. I’ll bet she doesn’t get that close to one of my throws again.
